I would prefer west of Petaluma around Marin and Sonoma Counties all the way to the coast, but that's just me. Any takers?

After eighteen years and six offices it would have to be the place that makes you happy at the time. As someone told me about one of my assignments, "I'm glad we have people like you so that people like me don't have to work in this god forsaken place".

I worked Napa for three years. There were days I forgot I was working when I was driving by all the vineyards and wineries. Beautiful place to work.

N/B SR 1 from Hwy 46 to Ragged Point
Cambria, San Simeon and San Luis Obispo County.

Lots of unspoiled ocean front, one of the three remaining pine forests on the west coast, deer, wild turkey, harbor seals, the fastest growing rookery of elephant seals, gray whales, cougars, bob cats, a score of sea birds, golden eagles, turkey vultures, zebras and Barbary Sheep on the Hearst Ranch.........

No big hotels, no golf courses, absolutely no fast food chains, no Starbucks, lousy cell service

Let's get real. It has to be ELA. It's the only area in the state that patrols the "Alps."

Only worked ELA on two nights but I am make a guess that the "alps" is that area near the office where the residents are kind enough to move streets signs around so emergency personnel doesn't know where they are and can't get help when they need it

Isn't it odd that I worked the Alps for my first 1 1/2 years but didn't work chain control until 18 years after I left.

82-14, 10-20? Uhhhhhhhh, 10-23.........

I remember the best advice for the Alps when lost, just go downhill and you'll find your way out...

When I tell people that I used to work in the "ALPS" they look at me funny. Nothing better then driving down those 10 foot roadways with the sound of gunfire mixed with Mariachi music serenading in the background.

It was the rocks thrown from the darkness that you really had to worry about.

If I had a choice of where I would like to patrol it would definitely have to be Kauai, but we aren't talking about other states.

 Do you also love having to shout at people so they can hear you over all the gunfire?

We treat the gunfire like fireworks. It's just like the 4th of July every night.

I know it's not Oakland or ELA, or even scenic Stockton, but I drive up to Yosemite almost every day.....that's a nice beat to sweep, provided you don't get nailed by any of the rock/snow-slides....

And I still hate you for that very reason!

How about 17 mile drive in Pebble Beach. Other than avoiding the golfers and deer, it's a nice drive.

I think that the guys who work Nevada City up on 49 have a lot of good scenery to look at, I love going up there to Audit our equipment even if I do not make any other money aside from my hourly.
