Yesterday (2/16/06) I met with my background investigator for the first time. He was at my door step at 8am. The meeting lasted a little over 4 hours, and it was very informative. My background investigator was very professional and a really nice guy. There was alot of paper work to fill out and sign, but it was over all a pretty casual meeting. At the end of the interview, he let me ask him any questions I wanted, about the academy, about trainging info, about his career, anything. This was really interesting and it was nice to be able to get to know the officer a little better. He is going to schedule a RA for me and I can't wait for that.
I'm almost there, and I can't wait. But I will have to wait now while the BI process unfolds. For all you hopefulls like myself, keep up with it, don't give up, and if you want this career enough, you'll get it.
Very nice, keep us posted!

Congrats undertow, my initial was this morning and i'm also feeling really excited about being this far in the process. My B.I was very professional as well and once we got the major part of the paperwork out of the way, he was really helpful with answering all of my questions I had about the department. He said he was shooting me for the May academy, I cant wait to get there and hopefully i'll see you there at the same time undertow.

Wow 4 hours! I guess there really is a lot of paper work to fill out! What are these interviews like when they are held at your house? Do they want to talk to any family members? I guess one major advantage is not having to worry about being late! And at least you can count on the BI not being late as well since that would make them look kinda bad. Anyways best of luck to you during your background. Oh yea how long did it take for them to contact you to set the appointment after you turned in your PHS?

The interview was actually pretty relacxed and casual. I am sure it depends on the BI. My BI is a rel nice guy, and answered any questions I had. I live by myself so I do not know what they would do about family memebrs. I know that when I scheduled my intitial interview with my BI, he asked if the place would be quiet, and free from any distractions (roomates, little kids, etc.)
I got my commitment to hire letter at the end of September 05, but there was a mix up with my paperwork, which delayed to process. See, I took my test, PAT,QAP all through the valleyt division, but since I live in the Boarder Division area, all of my records had to be sent down here. (long story). So my time period would be a little delayed I would assume.

Four hours isn't too bad--my initial lasted seven! But it was well worth it because I'll be graduating very soon.

My initial interview is scheduled at the Inland Communications office on Saturday 022596.

Good luck tomorrow during your interview. Be honest, but most of all, be confident in yourself. Make sure you let us know how it went.

Thanks undertow999. I think things went well. My background investigator is awesome. He gave me a bunch of information about the rest of the process and the Academy. Now the wait begins. More time to run, run, run.

Cool, my BI is a nice guy as well. One thing my BI told me, which I think about alot is that is better to error on the side of caution. Meening that it would better for you to tell him everything you think is important about your past, and even alot of things that you may not think are important; and have them actually not matter. Rather than not telling him something because you disregaurd it as not important.
I have called my BI twice since my interview to give him more info that I thought may be important, and he was very happy both times.
