Since I can't keep up with where everyone is in the hiring process at what point were you when this happened?

You seemed to hint in another post that you thought you might not get recommended. Was there something questionable that the BI dug up?

I'm sorry to hear that. It's dreadful news indeed. To get this far in the process, and to get rejected now, is a low blow.
How did you get the news? Did they tell you at the final interview or was it a letter?

Well granted some of this is partially my fault, I wrote down everything I could remember when it came to reprimands and warnings. Anything that went on paper, I wrote, things that a manager and I discussed especially when relating to me being improperly taught I took for mentoring not a performance warning. I guess that is my being naive at 20 1/2 and thinking the world is forgiving. To make a long story short there was 4 "job performance" related "comments" that I didn't know about 2 were from one job relating to my calling in sick once and having a car break down out of town (2004) and and the other 2 were from another job one where i over slept by 1/2 hour on my lunch because I was hill (Although I fixed my time card and wasn't paid for that anyways) and appearently one of the places that puts Code 3 lights on our vehicles the manager thought I had an attitude because I was upset he wasn't going to deliver the cars at the time promised. Basically my advice DO THE FOOT WORK AND GET YOUR WORK HISTORY FROM EVERYWHERE so you can write in EVERY detail down to the EXACT wording of why you left. She took them as omissions and I said flat out I didn't know about 3 of them and as for the sleeping well that was explained to the Chief on the spot. Whatever I'm over it quite honestly. Live learn and move on. She did comment though how I did have exellent refrences and that I had a lot going for me and yada yada yada and that since it was my first time applying and doing all this type of paper work take every word literally next time.

So there is no possible way to re apply?
You can re-apply, as long as your were not DQed for something from your past such as a felony conviction. But it sounds like norcal just forgot to put some info in his PHS, so I am sure he could re apply and go through with it again.

If you really want to be a part of this crew, you'll re-apply and put in the effort. Anything worth having is worth fighting for. You'll appreciate the career more in the long run...

Sorry to hear that it worked out that way. If you are only 20 1/2, you have plenty of time to get in. I made a complete career change and attended the academy at the age of 34. I haven't regretted one moment. This is a challenging, fun and rewarding career.

Sorry to hear about your situation. A good friend of mine was DQ'd for similar reason, he was dropped in the early summer and is now in back rounds again. He got through the 2nd time quicker because he knew what to expect. Just keep after the goal and you will make it. Good luck.
Norcal, like it has been said, don't give up that quickly. I know it must be a bummer but you are young and have a lot of time. You can be better prepared for the next go around. The CHP is the best and it's worth trying again. I am sure that you are not the first person to be DQ'ed who has come back and made it. If I did my math right, you have 15 1/2 years or so to try again. Keep coming back until they hire you or lock the door when they see you coming.
Good luck.

I was DQ'ed once when I was 21 and now just made it through backgrounds at 26 so dont give up! The wait time is 12 months from the time of your DQ.... Next step medical and psych

Norcal, if you still want the job, re-apply for it! I was DQ'ed for a similar situation (ommission) after completing the entire process a few years ago. I reapplied, included my ommission, and made it on. Just explain what happened and ensure that there's nothing you forgot the second time around, and you shouldn't have any problem. The sooner you re-apply, the better--the process will also move much more quickly since your background has already been done before. Don't give up if you want this.

Really, I'm sorry it didn't work out for you this time but remember: you are very young and have lots of time. Do everything you can to make yourself better the next time around. Go to college, join the military, become an EMT (or even a paramedic), learn a foreign language, anything that will make you better able to help the people of the state of California. You might even find a different career path that you also enjoy. Or it will reinforce how much you want to be a CHP officer.
good luck...be safe
