Hello all i recently got my application accepted, and my test dates are in july, but i have a question reguarding my background. Approx 7 years ago i was arrest for being a spectater at a speed contest, i was given a misdeamenor for it. Now will this disqualify me or do i still have a decent chance as far as background goes? Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

If you've looked around past posts much, you've seen the standard line, "we don't know you, we haven't conducted your background, we can't predict your outcome." All incidents in your past will be evaluated in terms of severity and recency. While the incident you mention is seven years old, it will be an issue and will be discussed with your background investigator. If that is the only "skeleton in your closet," I would encourage you to apply and go through the process.

I actually had an Exhibition of Speed when I was 19 which was also a misdemeanor. That was also 10 years ago and I have had no tickets since then. I was honest about everything and they looked cool with it. But only time will tell because I am still in the background process. Try to get it reduced to an infraction. Shasta County was really nice to me back then and they gave me another chance.

Good Luck.
