What guns do you people own? Pics if possible.

What kind of guns do you'll like?

I like the GLOCK 17/19, SiG P226/P229, and 1911A1s .45ACP.

I like the MP5, and can't forget about the taser gun.

I enjoy shooting my M1 rifle and pretty much any other early to mid 20th century military small arm.

There's nothing I like more than a little basic home defense. That's why I would say...

A little:

The OICW is the combination 5.56 mm rifle/ 20 mm grenade launcher system, right?

I've read that the 20mm grenade can be contact-fuse, or it can be set (using laser range finder) to airburst over the target.

Yes. It's fitted with a range finder in the scope itself, and programmable with a few simple buttons on one side of the weapon (i.e. "contact-fuse", "delay", etc.). The grenades can either detonate on impact, can be set to explode at a certain distance set by the user (i.e. above the enemies head if they're hiding behind a short wall), or detonate several seconds after impact depending on the settings.

The OICW also is designed with a camera which is connected to a small, hi-res, LCD screen in the Soldiers helmet; allowing them to point and aim around a corner without exposing themselves.

Another neat part about the laser distance finder is that it also acts as a pinpointing device, allowing the soldier to "light up a target" and direct artillery/air support fire directly where he needs it via a satellite uplink. All this is still part of the Future Fighting Warrior program that several of the military branches are researching.

I thought the Military scrapped the OICW?

On July 19, 2005 the Army announced it had temporarily suspended the Request for Proposal (RFP) for the acquisition of a new family of small weapons - Objective Individual Combat Weapon Increment 1 (OICW-1) - in order to incorporate joint requirements. The Army?s proposal has received interest from the other military services, and is further supported by several internal reviews reinforcing the increase in the potential for joint use.

Congressional notification has been made and the suspension of the program allowed joint requirements to be viewed and incorporated through the Joint Capability and Integration and Development System process, which began immediately. Original solicitation started May 11, 2005, and is temporarily suspended effective July 19, 2005, until the Joint Requirements Oversight Committee (JROC) convenes, which was scheduled for early September. Upon the JROC?s completion, the committee will issue a memorandum, which incorporates any new joint OICW-1 requirements. The RFP will be amended accordingly, and issued with a revised effective date for receipt of proposals.

But now they are reevaluating it...
