I got rear ended somewhere along Highway 5 on a trip to Los Angeles a few years ago. I believe it was near Fresno, but I'm not certain. I'd like to obtain a copy of the accident report, but I don't know the docket number.
Would it be possible to go to my local CHP office and retrieve the report with just my personal information? Would it be as simple as typing in my name and having the report come up?

You say "years ago." The best way is to go to the Department of Motor Vehicles and get a printout of your driving record. That should show the location of the accident - if it was a reportable collision. You then contact the CHP Office that has the report on file to obtain a copy of the report. The local office may be able to locate the information, but it depends on how long ago the incident took place.

Thanks for the help Papabear. The accident was in 2004. Got rear ended by a rubber necker who was too fixated on looking at the accident on the side of the road. Pay attention people!
If you are able to locate the report by calling the area in which it occurred, you can go to your local office and they will have a copy faxed over.

Yep, got it faxed from the Los Banos office over to the Redwood City Office.
