Haha, when I opened up the letter Dundee was on T.V. Sorry, stupidity got the best of me on that one.

Congrats on passing i too passed the written given on 4/19. Woo HOoo PAT on 5/3
Congratulations to everyone that passed. I, too, passed the written exam given in the Valley Division.
I understand that the test is pass/fail, however, just for fun, if you're interested in which percentile your T-score places you, here's a link to a T-score chart:
http://www.medfriendly.com/standardscoretopercentileconversion.html
From what I remember of stats, the conversion in the above chart appears to be correct. I don't know the total population of test takers, but if I remember correctly, the beauty of a T-score is that the equivalent percentile rank is fairly accurate even when the total population is undetermined. Enjoy!
See you all this weekend.

So here is my one concern for this weekend, and perhaps all you veterans out there could help shed some light.
The parallel line thing. I went to the QAP workshop this past weekend where the recruiter said it wasn't hard and if he could pass it (since he was short like me, and when i say short i stand a mere 5'0") i could pass it. BUT i have been practicing (silly i know) and still can't get 13 points in 10 seconds. so is there some trick that i should know about? thanks =)

Are you sure you're doing it correctly? From what I understand, every line you cross equals (1) point...right?
Correct me if I'm wrong....There are (3) total lines, spread (4) feet apart. If you shimmy left crossing three lines, you just earned 3 points - shimmy back to the right crossing the lines again and you just earned 6 points total....Right?

yes, you start in the middle though shuffle to the left but the first line (from my understanding) doesn't count as a point. Maybe it will be easier the day of and i am getting worried over nothing :noidea:

That comparison of t-scores doesn't work for our test! But hey nice try.
Dang! Owned.
How about this one:

No more statistics!!! I hate statistics!!! 4 years of schooling and dealt 90% of the time with stats, not just regular stats, the crazy engineering BS stats. jk, jk
Gun's graph actually looks pretty good. Almost spot on, however I could have sworn to have seen on a website that the MAX post T-score you can achieve is a 77. Am I wrong?

Many neglect to count crossing the middle and make it much more difficult.

yea i did. i am close i get 11 but almost isn't going to cut it. Almost only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades
Like i said i think i could be thinking this is harder than its actually going to be. OH and another question. Are we going to be doing this inside of the the gym (if there is one) at the academy? Or is it done out side. Because the shoes i am wearing for the day are my running shoes not indoor shoes. Just curious

You'll do the side step in the gym. Good luck.

For those of you who are taking part in the PAT this Saturday, how do you guys/gals feel about the running aspect of the test? Has anyone recorded their 100yrd & 500yrd time?
I've recently developed a slight case of shin splints, I took last week off from running and just stuck to doing sit-ups and push-ups...Yesterday I went back to running and it was just awful! I went from running a 7:40 mile to 9:36, 100yrd dash from 14.5 seconds to 18, and the 500 yard run suffered the most - 1:29 - 2:02

That example has a high score of over 80. The top T-score on our test isn't that high, so I will say the same as before. That comparison of t-scores doesn't work for our test! But hey nice try.
Regarding the sidestep event, I practiced it two different ways: simply touching the line with the outside foot, or crossing it entirely. I found it made a significant difference in time for me if I crossed the line versus simply touching it. I would imagine the risk of "missing" a line is increased by just touching, though. Good luck tomorrow.

The test really isn't that bad providing you...
-Pace yourself - Time is on your side
-READ THE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY!!
-When you get to the fill-in section, don't get frustrated if you miss a couple of them, work through it and most likely the words you'll need will just fall into your head.
-I bought the CHP Exam Study Guide & 501 Written Comprehension Questions. Both are from Learning Express - I prefer the latter of the two.
-The day before the test, take a break, relax and picture yourself on graduation day.
-Do yourself a favor and arrive to the test site early.
Think positive. Good luck!
