If you know what you are doing in the skill of Physical Methods of Arrest and your skills with a PR-24 are up to snuff, you should never have to lay a hand on a guy like this until you are putting handcuffs on him. The biggest mistake officers make is thinking they are bad asses that can street fight with some guy who grew up in the 'joint" or prides himself as king of the bar fight crowd.

So unless an officer is a certified black belt Kung Fu or Karate master, they are better off using the tools of the trade. They are also protected from civil liability if they have to compound fracture both arms and both legs to make him stop fighting as long at they are using the appoved physical methods of arrest and escalating force as needed.

I HAVE A FRIEND WHO USE TO WORK FOR THE TULARE COUNTY SHERIFFS DEPARTMENT AS A DEPUTY. HE TELLS ME ALL OF HIS EXPERIENCES AS A SHERIFF.

YESTERDAY, HE TOLD ME A STORY ABOUT A CRAZY GUY FROM EARLIMART WHO ENJOYED PHYSICALLY FIGHTING WITH DEPUTIES. HE WAS SUCH A NUT THAT HE TOOK ON SIX DEPUTIES WHILE HE WAS BEING PROCESSED THROUGH THE JAIL SYSTEM. IT TOOK ABOUT 15 DEPUTIES TO FINALLY RESTRAIN HIM THAT DAY. HE WAS 5'11 32 YEARS OLD WITH NATURAL SUPER STRENGTH (THEY NEVER FOUND ANY DRUNGS IN HIS SYSTEM).

THIS NUT CASE ALSO MADE TWO DEPUTIES RUN UP A TREE AFTER THEY HAD TRIED, BUT WERE UNABLE TO PHYSICALLY RESTRAIN HIM. MY FRIEND TOLD ME THAT WHEN HE AND THE OTHER DEPUTIES ARIVED TO THIS SCENE, THE TWO DEPUTIES WERE ON TOP OF A TREE BRUISED AND BATTERED. (THEY WERE LAUGHED AT FOR A LONG TIME).

THIS NUT CASE ALSO MADE A DETENTION OFFICER CRY AFTER BEATING ON HIM FOR SEVERAL MINUTES.

HE WAS SO CRAZY IN THE HEAD THAT HE FELT NO PAIN WHATSOEVER. YOU COULD PEPPER SPRAY HIM HIT HIM WITH ANYTHING AND HE WOULD STILL COME AFTER YOU.

THEY NEVER SHOT HIM BECAUSE HE WAS NEVER A THREAT TO THEIR LIVES, HE JUST WANTED TO FIGHT.

HAVE ANY OF YOU OFFICERS EVER ENCOUNTERED THAT TYPE OF PERSON?

SORRY IF MY STORY WAS CONFUSING, BUT IM IN A HURRY.

sounds like a fun guy...

but could you PLEASE stop typing in CAPS!!! it is harder to read and when writing it is used as a sort of yelling. i know that i don't like to be yelled at all the time. use caps sparingly please

Darth, I will second that but again, the officer should be very good to make sure he does it effectively and call it the right name in the report.

This is a a pretty good website on this move.
