Hello,
I am beginning the application process and wondering if selected to take the written test, can you choose a later test date and location? I ask because from some info on the CHP site it says that you will be scheduled to take the next available written test. I am military out-of-state and can only make certain times. Anybody?
Thanx

Nuke,

The system will automatically schedule you for the next available written test in the area you specify on the application -- there is no way around it. Just wait until a few weeks before the final processing date for the Division and testing cycle in which you want to test, then submit your application.

Once you pass the written test, you will not have to take it again. So, you could take the written test for one cycle to get it out of the way (and as a safety in case you do not pass). If you later submit an application for a different testing cycle, you would waive the written test and be invited directly to the PAT.

Clear as mud?

How hard is the written? Is that the most feared part of the hiring process? What goes on during the written? Thanks.

Check out the Applicant Study Guide. There's a link to it in the library section under links.

Reading this Testing Cylce (http://www.chp.ca.gov/recruiting/html/testing.html) should help you schedule your time......
