Hello All:

Please utilize this thread to keep all of us updated if you have taken the Written/PAT/Psych Written/ in February 2008.

By now, we should have received our QAP results  and it is the time for us to get in shape:evil:, do more Physical Training  or at least do our running NOW:badgrin:! Also, we should start to read ahead the Learning Domains (LD), PC and traffic code before the Academy.

Let's group together and support each other. Also, I am highly recommend to do PT (Physical Training) and run together regularly.

I live in the Arcadia Area and I run two times daily Monday to Friday, i.e. 0500 hrs for 2.4 miles and 1630 hrs for 3 miles. On each other Sunday, I will either run on the Dame or run in the State Park in the City of Monrovia. Please PM me if anyone would like to join me to run and let's get prepared together and motivate all of us together.

If you have any information on any LD, please also shares them here so that we can all be benefited.

Good Luck to you as well! Keep running. I am running by myself everyday as well. You will not notice you have been improving until the next time you are running in a group........

Keep it up!

HS, your right. I get the feeling some people are making a charade out of the testing process. I sit here scared to death of the QAP and when this guy scores a 90 and writes like this it makes me think twice. Have some respect for yourself and make sure what you post makes some sense. Come on now NEW HAUL! Ha

I'm working on my 220 and am considering different offices to put in for but I can't seem to find this "new haul" office. Is it a resident post or something?! Oh yeah, it must be close to "lancater"

Chevyman, I hope you have strong fingers because you'll be writing a lot of memos at the Academy (if you're so fortunate to get hired).

Alright, alright already i get the point. Sorry about my bad grammer, I do know proper english and will not let it happen again. This was my first post and I didn't relize that it was so important. So does anyone have anything new and exciting going on other than bashing on my grammer. I turned in my PHS today, and if you haven't they want them by the April 8th just for the heads up.

No. We were all just bored. But since you mentioned it, the correct spelling is grammar, English and realize. And, I believe we were bashing on your spelling and grammar.

My ride-along yesterday was fun, informative and remarkable!

The officer whom I spent the 8 hours with was very helpful. He told me all the things that he could remember about the Academy. He told me that the 27 weeks in the CHP Academy were so worth it for him and his family. We also talked about the 2 major Cadet Killers i.e. the PT, and the EVOC and how to avoid to get “killed” by listening to the instructors and their instructions while we are doing 120% of our efforts.

Also, he mentioned to me that even if I make it through the Academy, I still have to be very careful on how to carry out myself as a CHP Officer and how to apply all the tools and knowledge that I have learnt from the Academy during the FTP. He told me that one of his classmates failed the FTP and get “fired”. With that being said, I will make sure I will be paying all of my attention in class to learn things not only from the Academy but also during the FTP.

When we’re almost done our watch, we got a call regarding a crash in freeway 105. That is my first time in my life to be that closed to a collision. I had an opportunity to see how search, DUI examinations and arrest are conducted and how efficient that the CHP Officers are.

I really do enjoy the time spent and I look forward to another one with Baldwin Park Station in May.

I received a phone call on Friday morning and was told to make sure to have the PHS turned in before April 8. I was also told that there will be a background seminar held on April 11, 2008 Sunday at 1600 hrs at the East Los Angeles Station. However, I do not know if that is a seminar for certain people or everyone on the Background in the Southern Division. However, I will for sure be there in my business attire!!

I am so excited about this big step! This is a big step getting closer to the CHP Academy!

I'm not sure as to what this is about but I have been told to dress nicely?

They might just be going over the process from this point on?? Of course I'm just guessing...

Yep, your right... very exciting!! I can smell the cold, early morning air burning my lungs during PT up at academy already

HELLO ALL: MY MISTAKE. THE BACKGROUND SEMINAR IS GOING TO BE HELD ON APRIL 13, 2008 SUNDAY AT 1600 HRS. NOT APRIL 11, 2008 (I GOT THE SUNDAY PART RIGHT....)

SORRY ABOUT THE CONFUSION. AND I WILL SEE YOU ALL THERE.

You "write" something down.............

Believe it or not, we are trying to help you by bringing your attention to spelling or grammatical errors. One thing they teach you at the academy is the importance of proper spelling and grammar since your reports may one day be sitting on the desk of a Supreme Court justice and we don't want them to think you make spelling mistakes but are careful about everything else........get it??

Best of luck to you in the process

Have any one of you seen these 2 big and handsome billboards?

When I saw them, I have 2 totally different feelings:

The first feeling is I am so glad that I am in the Background process already and the mixing feelings of nervous, excitements, worries and uncertainly are all over me. Yes, the CHP is hiring and it needs many good recruits to be good Cadets and eventually become part of the great team of CHP Officers; hopefully, I will be one of them.

Secondly, if I could make it through the selection process and complete the Academy, there will be many new recruits came after me, which will translate into more upward promotion opportunities for me in a very near future (36 month times in grade)…………

The competitions are tough but the future and benefits are real!

Good luck to me and all of you guys!

While continued hiring will be beneficial to your overall seniority, it has little bearing on promotional opportunities.

The Background Orientation today was very informative and really did give me more confidence to complete the background investigation successfully.

[removed by dw] I think the real selection process is now really undertaking!

As I have stated in the No. 1 post in this thread, we really do need to start to work out and do PT. Are there anyone of you live around in Arcadia area and like to run and do PT with me? I run twice daily, i.e. 0500 hours and 1600 hours. I run 4.6 miles in the morning and 2.4 in the afternoon and do a long haul run ( 5 mile plus) on Friday afternoon.

Let me know if anyone likes to join me.

Remember to be honest now!

Now?! I hope you've been honest up to this point. Makes me wonder...

And Arthur, check your spelling and grammar. It looks like you're spending plenty of time running, now pick up a couple grammar books to help you write more clearly. Academics, including writing, play as big a role as physical training at the Academy.

Academics, including writing.

Are we allowed to use dictionaries to spell check for our report writing? If so, are we permitted to use mini electronic pocket dictionaries?

I have always been honest since day 1. Also, I am in the process of improving my grammar and my spoken English (I am taking an evening writing class at local adult education center to sharpen my languages and writing skills.
