Air units can't issue citations from the air....there has to be somebody to ID the driver of the vehicle and get a signature on the pink. Our pilots are good, but they ain't THAT good! [/quote]

True, but the Flight Officers are! Air Taxi is just my personal driver, haha.

I just got an email forwarded to me, but it sounded kind of fishy. Can CHP air units issue citations without a ground unit? the body of the message is below.

"My dad emailed me today and warned me to keep an eye on the skies while in the T.O. / Westlake / Agoura area.

"Apparently, there have been CHP planes (Cessnas) following the freeways for the past few weeks and one of our family friends just received a ticket in the mail yesterday for speeding on the 101.

"Sooo? head?s up.
If you?re a speed demon like yours truly, yours truly?s dad, or yours truly?s dad?s friends- either slow it down or angle your side mirrors up."

Thanks!

Don't citations need to be signed?

Hey there, I'm one of those guys in the air. Just for info, your friend WILL NOT receive a citation from just an airplane. Yes, there has to be a ground unit who will make the stop and issue the cite based on the airplanes observations and a signature at that time. Hope this helps and let me know if you have any other related questions. AirTaxi

hahaha

I WISH we had planes in the T.O./Westlake area!!! That is a big negative. Maybe West Valley/Agoura Hills but not in East Ventura County.

you mean you can't do a low pass and hang the cite out your window for signature? ;)

Wow... I work in Westlake Village. In the last few weeks, there seems to be a major increase in helicopter and small planes above our office. No doubt the planes are headed to the nearby airport (by the Outlet shops).

Here I am imagining the aircraft bundle dropping cites like the military does psychological pamphlets.

This sounds like another one of those bogus e-mails like the one about gangsters driving without lights as an initiation ritual, and shooting anybody who flashes their lights at them.
