Well after 10 1/2 years of being a navy master at arms, I finally get to start my application process for CHP. I passed my written exam and can't wait for the rest. I'm so ready for the career change. I've been waiting for this for a long time.

Thanks guys. You have no idea how many family members are on my ass about getting to the academy. That would be step one, step two would be to graduate.

I guess marines will always have beef with the navy. I always like to tell them "Hey isn't the marines the department of the navy"? It's all fun and games though.

I think it's just something we could all sit back and joke about. But yea I started this thread for the support and motivation. I believe that the CHP community is very supportive of it's applicants and shows me what type of leaders and professionals they really are. One can only hope to be a part of this team one day.

Lesson 1 if you wish to be an officer. Learn to deal with getting made fun of laughed at and teased. If you can't then go elsewhere. I was a mchine gunner for 8 years in the Corps and the joke on me constantly is I was a cook, got job announcments in my box, about chef openings at the Academy etc.....so deal with it.

We even have a sailor running for President and three of the last nine US Presidents were former sailors. It must be the water (sic).

We're all on the same team, but competition (and a good laugh) keeps us from going crazy...
Theirs a whole lot of former U.S. Presidents who were Navy...

I believe the term is Naval Aviator. At least that's what Tom Cruise said. Plus if a Marine were President, everythiing would work perfectly.

I can only remember a few famous marines in history, but the publicity wasn't good...Olly North, the grassy nole, Lee Harvey...did I miss one? Oh yeah, Mr. Rodgers...wasn't bad publicity but c'mon...a former sniper hosting a kid's program and wearing a long sleeved sweater everyday to cover up the tattoos?? Something just seems weird about that!!

Where do I start? Lee Marvin was a Marine, fought on Iwo Jima. Dan Daly, Chesty Puller, Greg Boyington, Rod Carew, R. Lee Ermey, Ted Williams....I could go on. The Marines have been around since before the country was a country. If it were not for the Marines, we would be speaking Japanese, and if not for the Army we would be speaking German, so there. So pipe down Tow Knee. HAHAHAHA

Good luck and congrats. 18+ Navy here. Aircrew, currently MH-60S in San Diego. It's always good to see another academy bound person. I hope to be there late next year. Take care and be careful out there.
