I called LACC today in an effort to get a copy of this tape, spoke to two supervisors and neither one knew anything about it. Can anyone provide the date and time for this incident. It would make an excellent training tape. Thanks, Toni

I found the audio tapes on youtube. A possibility is to contact the person who posted it via email and find out if you can get tape from them.

Why the happy face? Critical incidents are not funny, we can be thankful the officers were not seriously hurt.

Dumb little emoticons for forum posting may be childish and a poor attempt at having the reader get a perspective on the author's intent. But, humor is absolutely a positive release mechanisim for CIS type calls.

READERS DIGEST VERSION; FTO and trainee on last phase make a stop for speed. As trainee walks up to contact driver, driver shoots several times at trainee. Trainee and FTO do a superb job and return fire. Suspect flees and attempts a carjacking ultimately shooting a citizen. With the assistance from several allied agencies, suspect is taken into custody. The suspect was sent to prison for a long, long time.....No injuries to police personell.....

Correct me if I'm wrong, but they also found caches of weapons and arrested a few more people as a result of the investigation, with assistance from ISU and the LA Sheriffs.
