I just saw on the news that they are testing new devices like the pursuit track by star chase. It will shoot a tracker on the car you are chasing whether it would be moving or stopped. It almost eliminates the need of police helicopters, since it uses GPS.

There is also a new flashlight that also shoots mace.

Jeez, I got stop posting so much.

I believe that LAPD was testing the pursuit device. It is a "Cannon" thing that shoots from the grill of the patrol car and a GPS transmitter "Sticks" to the suspect's vehicle. The GPS system takes over. The copters follow the car via GPS. Theoretically, the patrol cars are supposed to back off and let the GPS track them.

Tracking a vehicle is all fine and dandy but many of these guys still drive like crazy people no matter if a police unit is twenty feet behind them or twenty blocks. Someone needs to come up with something to STOP a vehicle on the spot.

They have come up with something that can do the job but you know how the Department is on image and collateral damage so I don't think we will be getting any of these. They would definitely do the job!!!

Yeah that baby would do the job. Of course your going to need a partner who can hang out the passenger window and squeez off a round w/o falling out of the car.

This was in 2003

"The City of Madera, Calif. Madera police officer Marcy Noriega had the suspect from a minor disturbance handcuffed in the back of her patrol car. When the suspect started to kick at the car?s windows, Officer Noriega decided to subdue him with her Taser. Incredibly, instead of pulling her stun gun from her belt, she pulled her service sidearm and shot the man in the chest, killing him instantly. The city, however, says the killing is not the officer?s fault; it argues that ?any reasonable police officer? could ?mistakenly draw and fire a handgun instead of the Taser device? and has filed suit against Taser, arguing the company should pay for any award from the wrongful death lawsuit the man?s family has filed. What a slur against every professionally trained police officer who knows the difference between a real gun and a stun gun! And what a cowardly attempt to escape responsibility for the actions of its own under-trained officer."

I am not sure what the final outcome was on this but I think I would like to see a taser that looks like a taser and not like a pistol.

Right on the money!!! Any department that would try to use that lame a** excuse to justify shooting someone with "The Wrong Gun" deserves any and all of the money they will lose in the lawsuit that WILL follow. This is a perfect case for the "Be a Manager, Go To Prison" Law!!!
