Just a little about myself I'm currently 20 will be 21 next month.. I made it throught the process (95 on my QAP) all the way up to the final interview with my BI .. I got DQed for truincy in high school and an incident in junior high for throwing stink bomb which I was suspended for..all in which I disclosed only problem was that during my physc test a question was asked "when was the last time you ever commited a malicious act against property " or something along those lines and I said never thinking it meant like tagging or breaking windows and stuff that stupid teens likely do... To all young applicants rememer everything you say even as young as 13 is so recent because of our age means it is "releavent" and must not be overlooked by yourself because of our lack of background or life expierences ... This discrepancy in my answered along with my truincy in high school led to me not making it through! So lessened learned if you have similar issues be sure to never overlook anything even if you think nah I was only 13. Everybody does it ... I will reapply next semester when I finish my AA and be alot more attentive to each question asked in every process of the hiring faze.
Oh man...
I would definitely re-apply if I were you. You should make it next time no problem! As long as they told you that you have a shot at if you re-apply.
Just say you weren't paying attention to detail the last test and now you are a lot more mature and attentive.
Thanks for sharing your experience.

I would also take a solid look at your grammar, spelling and punctuation. We write reports as much as we write tickets, handle traffic collision investigations and arrest drunk drivers. Writing articulately and carefully is a staple of this job. If you can write well, you will swim. If you cannot...

I am not questioning Stevenrm87's openness here, but I will share that most explanations for disqualification are either misunderstood somewhat by the applicant (from what they were told) or are watered-down slightly for public viewing. Again, I am not saying this about Stevenrm87 specifically, but one should not be so quick to judge based on a paragraph written by an applicant. If it were so easy to determine someone's qualifications, we would not spend dozens of hours investigating.
Stevenrm87's case does bring up something on younger applicants. For those with less life and work experience, we still evaluate behavior with respect to the same time periods. What that means is that the high school years will be evaluated somewhat in the context of employment. Employers and supervisors become teachers and principals.
As for Stevenrm87, if you were given any guidance by your BI as far as reapplying, please be sure to follow it.

No don't say that, tell the truth to the QAP exactley as it hapened. Do not tell them your version, becuase it is those Apllicants that tell their version and not the truth that can be DQ'd a second time. TELL THE TRUTH!!!! Or take the advice of another app. I don't care. OUT!:noidea:

there was a guy in high school, a year older than me, he was a thug, slammed the door on a teacher's face. I was working with maybe three years on, who showed up from an allied agency to help me on a foot pursuit? The thug, only thing was he was and still is a police officer. I see him on occasion and he's actually promoted. I don't remember him getting suspended from high school, but I'm sure he was in the dean's office. Only thing that saved him was the football coach. Stand up guy who backed up me up in a dark alley with the crook hiding in a dumpster. The dog got the bad guy. The clown was stopped by the HP adjoining area, I heard the name and told dispatch the crook was 148 potential. The officers asked him what happened with the other HP arrest, he said he got his ass kicked. The officers saw the puncture wound of the dog bite. So the morale of the story is keep your noise clean and you can have fun, just like me.
With all due respect, what makes you so sure he will be all set next time?

Thanks for sharing your story. As I was reading this story it reminded me of a time long ago that I played a key roll in a malicious act and had the cops show up at my door a day later. Oh man! Reading this story could have just saved me from getting DQ'd!!! Good luck re-applying.
