How many of you actually eat healthy? I do not eat junk food (fries also), drink soda, or go to fast food restaurants.
It is really hard for me because most of the time you want a quick snack.

i work 16 hours a day, usually. I have a whole day off like ones a month. Pack your lunch early. Sacrafices have to be done; pack simple lunches and put it in a cooler. It might not taste like a warm cooked meal, but you kind of have to deal with it. Your health and your life, over a hamburger or spaghetti. Weigh out your options and don't give in.

Depending what's in it, Spaghetti is not really that bad for you.

Sketti rocks. I think carbs have gotten an undeserved bad rap. I spent many years working in bookstores, giving me a chance to see all kinds of diet books. No matter what food you live, there's a diet to justify it. Everything from 100% raw foods, to the 100% meats, even one called 'why women need chocolate.' A few years ago it was not fat, now it's no carb. Trends, like everything else.
My coach has me on 'the program,' which he says is lean protien & quality carbs. It's broken down into 6 meals a day:
#1 Muscle Milk shake (get this at GNC)
#2 oatmeal w/scoop of protien powder
#3 spinach salad w/veggies & 3oz. lean protien
#5 spinach salad w/veggies & 3oz. lean protien
#5 Muscle Milk shake
#6 fish & veggies
*LOTS of water
When I'm in the groove, it's easy, but the spinach salad monotony is tough. My 1st reaction was how can I fit in 6 'meals?' I actually found it easier to fit into my schedule because I always knew what I was going to eat. At school I would stand in the hallway before class munching spinach (have a friend on stuff in teeth patrol), have the other later in the car, stock up on fish when it's on sale, etc. Fast food cravings aern't as bad. Last night I threw a little butter on my potato instead of salsa, and it tasted flavorless & greasy. Tastes adjust.

I drink Muscle Milk (The strawberry flavor rocks!!!) and I eat protein bars. Carbs. are good for you because it gives you energy. The bad thing about carbs. are that they turn into sugar, so if you are diabetic, carbs. can kill you.

Hat's off to you guys for eating right. My idea of doing the right thing is ordering a pitcher of lite beer with my large cheese pizza.

It's all about the type of carbs. Your body NEEDS carbs to function properly. You want to focus more on complex carbs such as whole wheat, bran, etc. You want to limit the amount of simple carbs such as white bread, white flour as those break down into glucose and goes right into your blood stream quickly. They are good for an energy boost but you need complex carbs to sustain you throughout the day.

I haven't tried strawberry. I drink the chocolate milk. I tried the rocky road, and is was so bad! The chocolate peanut butter is good too. Last thinksgiving I had some chocolate mousse, and it tasted funny. After a few bites I realised it wasn't the mousse, it was that my taste buds had become so accustomed to chocolate Muscle Milk!
Bars...yuck! Can't stand them!

I could probably eat healthier......granola bars and gatorade at work and okay meals usually chicken something at home....I sneak in an ocassional soda, hot chocolate, or beer. I'm eating a 100 times better than I was back in college though (and my weight is back down to where it was when I graduated high school)! In the last month or two I've gone from about 185/190 down to 165/170. It's all about being active, and not eating crap no matter how good it tastes.....I want a pizza and some guiness right now!

You're not kidding about college uoplax, the "Freshman 15" was more like the Freshman 30 for me.
Fortunately I live with other guys that are atheletes so we always have healthy food in the house. Now I just need to reduce the amount of trips to fast food joints and I'll be in good shape.
