Okay guys I've got one for you. These stickers that are now available that say "Access OK" for people to drive Hybrid vehicles in the HOV lanes look to me to be something that's going to be big on the black market. Not asking for anyone to give away a secrets but are Officers trained on being able to ID the fake from the real? I've noticed some of the new Hybrid's on the market have very small badging so at 60 mph or at night isn't this going to be a little tough to enforce?

Welll, what you have brought up is certainly going to be an issue. Go figure, dishonest people. Anyhow, there are only certain vehicles that meet the requirements for an exemption to the HOV lane. Although we don't get "specific" training on "this is a good sticker this is a fake" we do get updated on what they look like and what cars are authorized an exemption. Its easier to identify the car than see the sticker at 60. The reality is that some officers will be hawks on this and some will not, as the violator, you take your chances. None-the-less as most guys will tell you, you learn as you go and there will always be a chance to get them tomorrow. BUT, rest assured, if we see a 1968 SS Camaro with a "Access OK" sticker, we will certainly make a stop. ......... I hope

Just wait,I'm sure the day is coming when some guy gets busted for printing these out of his garage and the news will show Officers pulling boxes of them out of some storage bin. It's to hot an item for the bad guys to pass up on.

There are only a few hybrid vehicles that qualify for the stickers. The Honda Insight and Civic Hybrid and the Toyota Prius. There are other vehicles that qualify as well with electric or cng powered motors, but that is not a large percentage either.

Unfortunately, a lot of owners believe that they are granted solo access to the HOV lanes when they purchase one of these vehicles, but that isn't the case.

Now that is profiling!!!

How about enforcing the 22400(a) CVC "impeding the flow of traffic" for the Hybrids that want to travel at 45 mph on the freeway! Some of us Camaro SS owners would appreciate it!
