I would love to hear stories of anyone who's gone through the process & the Academy.

There once was a lowly EMT who worked in Inglewood. He always had a dream of working for the finest law enforcement agency in the world, so he sent in his application to the CHP. What joy the young EMT took in learning that the CHP was hiring and had chosen him. The EMT reported to the Academy and found out that they had not chosen him, but rather he chose them. The EMT was told that he was free to leave at anytime, but alas, he was too stubborn to do so. He was stressed beyond belief and pushed to his limit. He did some really stupid things that he does not care to comment about. He had some great bathroom experiences and some not so great bathroom experiences, and even had some uniform malfunctions. During the Academy someone started calling him G-Man and that name has since stuck. G-Man graduated the Academy and lived happily ever after.

This is like a mystery book. Makes me wonder whether your a cookie monster or enjoy having a wet head. Maybe both!

Quick question...Did you like working as an EMT? My friend just passed the national registry as a component to trying to get hired as a firefighter. I keep saying that being an EMT sucks, you dont get payed nearly enough, work long, tiring hours, etc etc. What are your thoughts?

It was a great job while I was going to college. The pay stinks in LA county. If he ventures out to Ventura County he will get paid better due to the strength of the EMT union out there. I liked it a lot. I never wanted to be a hose dragger, but I wanted to do something other than retail sales and it helped as far experience. The first dead body I saw was not during break-in, which saved me from turning green in the face. PM me if you want specifics. [/hijack]
