For those attending the state ceremony in uniform, there is a precession that leaves the Academy and travels to the Capitol building. It is pretty impressive with the vast numbers of patrol vehicles from everywhere in the state and from many places throughout the U.S. (and sometimes a few from out-of-country). The CA agencies with a member being honored lead the precession with the remaining agencies following behind. Everyone stages at around 0730 with the first unit rolling at 0900... All those who can are encouraged to attend.
Just for clarification, the CHP Memorial honors those who have fallen from May of the last year to May of the current year. The state ceremony on May 9th honors only those who have fallen in calendar year 2007 - 8 agencies; 10 officers.
