Hello Officers,

Have any of you had an experience like this, and if so, how did you/would you respond?

Not sure I'd want to be giving flack to an Officer who's built like an oak tree.

That trooper was patient.

Also, that motorist was a total Adam-Henry.

If this yo-yo went off like that on a Trooper one can only wonder how he reacts to being cut off, honked at etc...

I've seen that video about a zillion times, and it never fails to make me chuckle. I've had similar stops, although nothing quite that extreme....that guy is a first-class head case! The trooper was just a wee bit sarcastic, but did keep his cool very well. I do my best not to let people like that get under my skin...you feel much better afterward knowing that you kept it professional and didn't allow yourself to get sucked down to their level.

  This Trooper was fired after this incident. He "jacked" the driver up first and then turned his video camera on. If you notice he had the ciatation in his hand when the video starts.

I think the Adam Henry was just getting his $137 worth of verbal diarrhea. I use to like to grin at people who were verbally abusive, that always seemed to have a subtle effect.

What kept me sane at times like that was realizing that he is probably like that in many other areas of his life, I only have to listen to him for a couple of minutes and I got a great story to tell at coffee. Sounds like a winner to me. Too bad he didn't have warrants........

Yep, that is also what my sources said. Once the entire story came out, the officer was toast.

I remember hearing he was summarily fired following this incident but unless some other information was involved in his termination, it doesn't make sense. Even if he did jack the guy up (and how exactly did that happen or how was it proven if the camera was off) it still wouldn't be enough to fire the guy; especially considering how he conducted himself once the camera started. Verbal discourtesy is not grounds alone for termination. Somehow, I think there was more to the termination, if in fact there was one.

The story I heard was that this wasn't a single incident, that he was doing this frequently. I heard that he would make initial approach with camera off, jack the guy up, then go back to car, turn camera on, and approach with 215 and the violator would flame, and it would be recorded.

This information came from an instructor at our academy when I was there. (not mentor)

I remember hearing that he was in fact terminated some time after that video was taken....but it had to do with criminal charges not stemming from that incident or any such similar.

Here in Australia I would just write him a speeding ticket and a litter ticket and leave. Why waste your time with fools like that.
