My sister is a cop in the bay area. Whenever I visited her in the past she would tell me about these "so called" sideshows that occured in the Richmond area. When she explained to me how stupid these sideshows were I had to see for myself. I failed to comprehend how dangerous these events were until I downloaded a clip from youtube. I was absolutely floored and I still can't believe people do that sort of thing. To make it worse....these sideshow supporters truly believe that this sort of thing is cool. :hitwall:
The amount of revenue the state would get from those tickets alone would completely solve the budget problem that California always gets into. This one of the benefits of joining the CHP......constant job security.
For the people that do not know what this "sideshow bs" is all about; please follow said link.

****Warning****You will most likely get a little upset.

But I digress. I understand you are enthusiastic and interested in the CHP and law enforcement. Sounds like you're applying or will be applying for an officer position. What concerns me is your note that "You will most likely get a little upset." You are correct that this type of behavior is de facto job security, but it is probably not something that should get your blood pressure too high. You can't take this type of behavior personally -- at least not if you plan to go into law enforcement and live to retirement age. This antisocial behavior, in one form or another, is something we deal with on a daily basis. If you get too fired up, it's going to be a very long career with a lot of undue stress. There is a time and place for stress and emotional reaction; I just don't think this is one of those times.
I'm probably reading way too much into the few comments you made, and if I'm out in left field (as I seem to be most of the time ), I apologize. Just some food for thought.

Those "sideshows" are pretty upsetting.. Anyone who would do that is obviously on the shallow end of the intelligence pool.. but just like DW said, it comes with the territory of being a peace officer.

I wonder how they got the permit to do that? :noidea:

Ahhhhhh. No need to apologize DW. You are right. I should not get to worked up over things like this. It is just one of my pet-peeves....kind of like people taking 4 parking spaces when they only need 1. Just frustrates me when people stop traffic on the freeway so they can spin donuts. I was being sarcastic about the state budget remark. I should have mentioned that originally.
I am sure that experience on the job will help me not get so worked up over things like this.
