I've seen a lot of police dramas (Cops, etc.) and I've never seen a cop kick to protect/fight a suspect. Are officers in the US allowed to kick a suspect in a situation? Maybe a good kick in the crouch would help fight off a suspect who's trying to stab/fight an officer? im curious

lol weird question, just curious
thx

I've always wondered just how useful or safe it is to use your feet in a struggle overall, unless you are a natural born 4 legged fighter in top condition. As soon as you raise one of your legs, you reduce your stability, and lessen the platform from which your upper body defends or attacks. Add to that the weight that most LEO's are usually carrying above the hip like gun, taser, radio, cuffs, etc.
add to that that it's a little harder to pull your lower limbs away from someone if they get a grip on them after you voluntarily extend it to them

It might be effective to kick an assailant in the crotch. Or the grape-smuggler. Or the junk. Or the nads. Never the crouch. And definitely not the couch.

Ever hear of Kick A$$ and take names????

Chippies be mindful, this is treading on policy and procedures that we don't discuss in the public forum.

When the chips are down and you are doing what you have to do to defend yourself and/or subdue the crook, all bets are off. Kick, punch, slap, bite, gouge, or whatever is the appropriate amount of force to get the job done. No more, no less!!!
