Anybody hopeful for CTC-II-08? If so, where are you at in the hiring process? I am awaiting my psych interview. It's been five weeks since my medical. I was told by my BI that they're pretty backed up scheduling the psych interviews. :noidea:

I'm hopeful for CTC II-08... I already took the psych interview.
This is my second time around.. I was DQ'd from the psych 1 1/2 year ago for "matters relating to maturity." But I stopped being dumb, waited a year and re-applied... I'm crossing my fingers to get in this time. I don't know why I wouldn't, but life throws you some curve balls sometimes.
Oh, and if you notice my dates... it took me a little over 6 weeks to finally get my psych interview. Just have some patience. Its coming. Good luck to you and me both.

Good luck to you to! I think you and me are on the same testing cycle for the Southern Division. I looks like we've tested together this whole process. My background took a little longer than yours did. I have several address and have lived in multiple states in the last seven years. Keep me posted on your psych results.

You three should start preparing. You never know if you will get an invite and if you do get one, you don't know when you will get it(it could be the day before).
Each of you seem to be likely canidates, if all goes well(looking at where you are in the process).
Get out there and run, do lots and lots of cardio, floor exercises and if you don't think your overweight...you probably are!
Oh and pick up some boots and start shining.
Good luck to you all!
I am just waiting for my invite for CTC II-08. I took my written in July and had my psych interview right before Christmas. My medical was on 11/19. Good luck and hope to see you in April!

Is there anyone else from the Los Angeles area (San Gabriel Valley) who is hopeful for this class? (CTC II-08)

I am also hoping for a spot in CTC II-08. I am currently awaiting a call to schedule my oral psych interview. I took the medical 2 weeks ago, so by the sounds of things on this forum, it may be another 3-4 weeks before I get that call. I have been running, and doing the floor workouts the chp recomends. Tough workouts! I am pretty tired after about ten minutes of the push ups, sit ups, leg lifts, ect. I have a lot of work to do!

Ditto! Are you, by chance, in the Southern Division? I'd love to get to know some of the other cadet hopefuls from my area (Southern Division, Los Angeles/Antelope Valley).

I am in LA and I am very hopeful for this class. I am hopeful they fill it with 190. I am hopeful that all 190 graduate. I am also hopeful that 15-20 come to my office out of the Academy. Unfortunately, I don't believe any of those three will happen. Good luck to all the hopefuls.

Ya 10 minutes is a bit minimal. Get on the floor and start pushing.

Has an entire class ever made it from start to finish without losing anyone, for whatever reason?

What do you say we make "our" class the first to do it! (unless it has already been done, in that case, lets be the next)
There is no reason that we can't make it happen. If one of us falls, three of us shall pick him/her up!

Hey everyone,
I had my psych interview on 011108. I am waiting with crossed fingers for the mail man every day!
I am also from Southern and I'm looking forward to meeting everyone at CTC II-08... if I am so fortunate!
Good luck to all.

There is no reason that we can't make it happen. If one of us falls, three of us shall pick him/her up!I thought all classes think this. I know my son's did. The CTC I-07 had a 70.2% graduation, II-07 was 75.6%. III-07 and I-08 are both still above 85% but have many weeks to go.
There will be things there that will get a few to depart. I do think the class needs to stick together. It is hard mentally to watch people you were sure would make it pack their gear. Just be as prepared as you can, and decide it doesn't matter what they do, you will make it and you will not walk away. EVOC gets you, you will do what you have to to come back. Good luck.

I just completed my psych interview at the end of Jan. and I'm hoping for an invite letter for CTC-II-08, which starts on April 28 if I'm not mistaken. Has anyone been invited to this class yet?? Hopefully we'll get at least a few weeks notice.

Hopefully we'll get at least a few weeks notice. :confused:Invitations to most classes start going out 6-8 weeks prior to the start of class. So, the earliest would PROBABLY be March 1st. The last class, they were calling out invitations until the Friday before class.

It's still pretty early. I think they typically begin sending out invitations 6 weeks prior to pick-up day.

Anyone hopeful for CTC II-08 get contacted at all by the state yet? Whether it was for more info or to inform of a disqualification, etc.?
So far, one month since my Oral psych interview... and nothing for me.

Just something for all you eager applicants to keep in mind...patience. I know you are excited out of your mind, but start working on your patience now. You could be all done with testing in time for the next class, and still not get called for it. Heck, you could be all set for two or three classes and not get called for them. I am not trying to be preachy or pick on any of you. I just think that we could all work on our patience. And it would benefit all of you to start doing that before you enter the academy. Just my two cents!

I took the written test back in august, and i just started the background process 3 weeks ago. I met with my investigator and that was almost 3weeks ago. I would like to know, how long is it before you meet with him the second time, i am in border division. I was hoping to make the april class, but i dont think i will. Please let me know cause it sounds like you guys are further than i am.

I am still in background limbo...
Whats that mean? You think your BI has only your case to work? To all of you who think you are in background "limbo" understand that most BI's depending on division can have 5 or more cases to work at one time, not including helping out other BI's with cases. So patience young grasshoppers when its your time it will be.....

Question, what if your not home when your BI comes to your house, does anyone know what happens in that kind of a scenario?

They're not just going to show up out of the blue - the appointment would be arranged in advance. If they make the appointment and you're not home, that would be your fault and wouldn't reflect upon you very well.

Hey Mac thanks for the answer. So he will call me and arrange an appointment with me to be at my house. Ok. Another question, do they look down upon you for applying at the youngest age cause im only21, and i wanted to know if that is against me or for me?
do they look down upon you for applying at the youngest age cause im only21, and i wanted to know if that is against me or for me?My son was 21 when he entered the academy. A cadet in the III-07 class started the academy on his 21st birthday. Why would they look down on you for being 21?

02-13-2008, 08:47 PM
Well, i figured they would take someone who was 21 and who had been in the armed forces vs. a 21 year old who has had no experience.
Well, i figured they would take someone who was 21 and who had been in the armed forces vs. a 21 year old who has had no experience. We accept applicants who demonstrate the traits required to become a police officer with our Department. Some of those traits are laid out in law, others define us as an agency. Age really has nothing to do with the equation per se, except that some people do not fully develop the qualities we're looking for until later in life.

I am waiting for an invitation. I completed the hiring process in December and was unexpectedly invited to January's class but I wasn't quite in the position to go yet. Hopefully I will meet some of you in April!
I have been gathering the essentials I think I'm going to need for the first couple of weeks at the Academy, but I'm trying to get a better idea of what I can live with or without. Any ideas???

You may want to do a search - there have been several threads about that topic in the past with some good advice given.

I would love to make it to to CTC-II-08. I have only made it to my background investigation, but I am still hopeful!
Regarding packing - As Mac said you will find a lot of information by searching. I have found the search tool to be a very useful.
