I was reviewing the new testing schedule. I know you have to be 20 years old to apply. The next final processing date for the southern division is 4/13/2006. I do not turn 20 until 4/30/2006 which is 22 days later. I would be 20 though in time for the test because it is on 5/06/2006. So can I apply and be accepted because I will be 20 before the testing date or do I have to wait for the 7/13/2006 deadline? I hope I can due the 4/13/2006 deadline, because I am eager to become a member of the
CHP.

By the way I emailed the CHP and am still awaiting an answer. I tried calling but I keep getting disconnected.

You need to be 20 by the date of the written test according to the CHP 179D "Blue Sheet". Looks to me like you'll be fine. Good luck.

apply now or later i don't see how it will make a difference as long as it is before the final date. that being said i would apply now though because the reality of what i was doing didn't hit me until i sent in the application, that is when i really started training

I don't see any benefit to waiting to send in your application. Just make sure it gets there before the final date! The date you take the written is the important one as far as I can tell. With that in mind, I doubt they'd wait to send you a response until your birthday. You'll most likely get the letter that gives all of the dates for the cycle, and that let's you know they received your initial application. I am pretty sure they send out the letter's based on whenever they receive your material. I just got a response (of non-acceptance!) in a matter of days because my application from the last round must not of gotten itself out of the system yet. So just send it in, and like all of the "old" guys one here say, start running! That reminds me....I need to get running more myself!

Based on the information you provided, you should be eligible to take the test on May 6. Put in your application now, as occasionally they do get lost in the mail (as long as it is after the FFD for the prior testing cycle, which I'm too lazy to look up right now). You should get a confirmation letter within six weeks of submitting your application. If you do not, you may want to check up and/or submit another app.
