Glasses while in academy...

I have seen hundreds of photos of cadets during academy training... however, I have never seen a photo where a cadet was wearing glasses (I dont mean sunglasses:cool:). Any reason why?
I ask because I hope to become a cadet myself, and I wear glasses.

Of course, if you have a photo where a cadet is wearing glasses, that would silence me in split second...:tape:

Javgonz, I just did a search on this. I know that during the application process, you are screened not once, but twice for vision, maybe even more if there is a special issue.(soft contact lense wearer, etc.) It makes sense to have good vision in this career field, because its kinda hard to drive AND PAY ATTENTION TO DETAIL if one cannot see properly. I know that when I went on a ride-along, one of the officers was wearing a pair of glasses on his shift. As for wearing glasses at the academy, you can, as long as you are able to perform your duties. hope that helps!

I've seen officers wearing glasses as well. I'm referring to cadets training at the academy though... Not doubting that you have a valid point, thanks.

Don't worry about it. Just so as long you're not wearing these :cool: . I wore glasses and contacts at the Academy with no issues, other than a few times, but you'll find out if you get there :wink:.



Now, if you're blind as a bat, I can't help you there.

My hubby is in the academy now and he wears glasses, although I think he mostly wears them in the classroom. He does wear them when he drives, but they haven't gotten to the driving part yet. I hope that helps!

My vision took a slight turn for the worse after I was tested for eyesight. Once in the Academy you're not tested again. I wore glasses all the way through. After you get in you can have coke bottle glasses and nothing will happen to you as long as you can still get around without a walking cane. :razz:
