I realize accidents are no big deal to you guys but I saw some footage on the news this morning that really caught my attention. Seems this guy was riding his motorcycle w/b in the e/b lanes of the 91 frwy at a very high rate of speed and collided head on with a vehicle. The force of the impact sent the rider through the air with him landing on top of a big rig's trailer which was travling behind the impact vehicle (not sure how far behind.) The shot from the news helicopter showed the distroyed bike and vehicle and some 30 feet behind that sitting in the number 4 lane the big rig with a yellow cover over the riders body still on top of the trailer.

Crazy stuff. While we are on the topic of motorcycles. I was on the I-5 heading to LA last year when one went speeding by me. I didnt think anything of it until a big rig jack knifed in the middle of the road. Yup, you guessed it, the only thing the hit it was the motorcycle. The driver tried to lay the bike down but didnt get his head low enough. The impact of the guy and the side of the big rid took th guys head clean off. And by clean, I mean right under the helmet. His head and the helmet went literally rolling down the highway for a good 20-30ft.

like it is often said, some people just shouldn't be on the road

When it comes to bikes there are those who should have them and those who are idiots on them. I have been riding for almost a year and take it very seriously! When i got my bike i didn't go out and by the fastest bike i could get, i took an MSF course, and i spent a lot of money on gear to help stay safe.

I don't like those people who give us a bad name, so i ask everybody to please not judge all riders because of a reputation or how one of them might have treated you at one time.

Yeah Force but if this dude's flyin in the wrong direction on the freeway he's either playing out some kind of death wish or took a wrong turn while on his way to Rite Aid to pick up another tube of glue to sniff. Who knows, maybe he was trying to get up north to pick up his buddy who was runnin' around naked on Interstate 280.

i agree with you. i think that it was probably a death wish or he was on something

CHP seeks driver of pickup in fatal hit-run

SAN PASQUAL VALLEY ? California Highway Patrol officers are searching for a hit-and-run driver who struck a motorcycle shortly after 5 a.m. Wednesday, killing the rider.
The white 2001 Dodge Ram pickup truck was traveling eastbound on state Route 78/San Pasqual Valley Road when it crossed over the double yellow line near Cloverdale Road not far from the Wild Animal Park and hit the motorcyclist head on, said CHP Officer Tom Kerns.

The driver of the truck abandoned the vehicle and fled. The 48-year-old rider, a Ramona man who was not identified, died at the scene.

Kerns said they would like to talk to 30-year-old Delynn M. Reed of Pauma Valley and have identified her as a "person of interest" in the case.

Reed is not the registered owner of the truck, which had Idaho license plates, and Kerns said she may or may not have been the driver. He would not go into details as to why they wanted to talk with her.

The two-lane highway was shut down between Bear Valley Parkway and Cloverdale Road until 9:30 a.m.

Helicopters from the Sheriff's Department were used to search for the truck's driver. Kerns said there are trees, bushes and canyons providing many places to hide.

Anyone who has information about the case or who may have witnessed the accident is asked to call CHP at (85:cool: 637-3800.

The man's identity has not been released pending notification of his family.

Motorcyclist crashes through gas station garage

Staff Report

A motorcyclist got more than a fill-up at an Orcutt gas station after he accidentally accelerated and crashed through the station's garage Tuesday morning.

Mark Randall Davis, 41, pulled into Mobil gas station, 1104 E. Clark St., just before 5 a.m. when he hit a bump at an excessive speed and accidentally throttled his 2003 Suzuki motorcycle, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The bike hit the service station's garage door and ejected Davis through the glass panes.

An ambulance took Davis to Marian Medical Center where he was treated for possible fractured ribs, a broken thumb and a sprained knee.

The ?bump? was likely an elevated portion of the driveway or a reservoir well lid, according to the CHP report.

Davis did not have a motorcycle permit and will be cited, the CHP said. He won't be cited for excessive speed because the crash occurred on private property, said Officer Gus Lopez.
