The Kern County, California, Sheriff's Department ordered new, plain white patrol units and had the graphics applied locally. In this case, what they ordered was not quite what they got.

This car was driven for 1 week before an officer noticed what the graphics company employee did on the passenger side of the car. The employee did this on his last day working for the graphics company before he retired!

Yup, my old partner. Can't keep a good Chippy down. Glen Craig, CHP Comish became Sacramento Sheriff, Ed Prieto, ex-CHP Capt became the Yolo Sheriff. Another ex-chief became the sheriff of Fresno county if I remember correctly. See how good this dept is!

You got the first two right. Chief John Anderson from Fresno got elected Sheriff of Madera County. Capt Cal Minor ran for Fresno Sheriff last time and lost to a female Capt on the SO.
CHP TO Tom Sawyer had 24 years on and resigned and got elected Sheriff of Merced County. Another CHP was Sheriff of Mariposa county, Matlock I think.
Capt George House got elected to the Assembly from Stockton. Can't remember his name but I think a TO from Williams, Clint something, was sheriff of Colusa County. I am guessing there are more but my mind is tired.........

All I remembered for sure was that an ex-Chippy chief got elected Sheriff, then got popped for deuce in West Sac awhile back. Couldn't remember for sure where he was out of, but knew it had something to do with Fresno at some point. Old age, memory going, it does not compute, it does not compute! LOL

Cal Minor was a Sgt. in ELA when I reported in 1978. His son Dan was a TO in ELA and we worked together in backgrounds (mid 90's) before he promoted to Sgt. and went to Coastal Division. Cal's brother Ron worked in Southern Division Auto Theft for a long time.

I was in the academy with a Kern County Deputy. The same person who put that decal on the side of that car got a K-9 car with "We'll bite your ass".
