I just saw a story about it on Fox 11 News. There's no article on their website, but here's another source:

Ahh, CHP has part time officers now. I assume they don't do the full 27 weeks at the academy either. Probably just a quick "how to write a speeding" ticket seminar. How do people find the time to dream up such BS?

And just to further add to the hoax in all of this since the article stated the state is trying to get more $$$$....

Post #1 and #2 (http://www.chpforums.com/Default.aspx?g=posts&t=208)

I liked this line, "Now 7 mph above the limit can justify a ticket". When was a ticket justified before? LOL. I guess people don't realize that 1 mph over the limit is good enough. Some people refuse to accept that fact that speeding tickets can be justified for speeds BELOW the posted limit. I wish the story was true, more OT!

hahaha WOW isnt that some crap! I cant believe people would actually read that and believe that! All CHP FUNDS are allocated from the DMV fee's when you register your car and put alont with the general fund. Every ticket an officer writes the revenues go to that city or county depending where it was written and the violation was commited. Haha reading that made me laugh! 90 officers haha I live in a city population of just over 250,000 people and their are on a typical graveyard shift only 7-8 units out with teams of 2 to each car. 90 haha I wish we had that many officers maybe the roads would be alot more safe for sure! =)

Wouldn't we all LOVE to live in a world here handing out a ticket every 10 minutes was do-able...no accidents taking up time, no reports to write, no angry 'customers' taking extra time to deal with, nothing falling out of trucks blocking the road. A perfect utopian community where no time is needed for community policing projects. I suppose the sun is always shining and the birds are always singing.

I have an 18 year old cousin, knows everything, who believes you really do legally get a 5 mph buffer. If that were the case, the posted speed limit would be 5 mph higher! I figured if I ever got the 'you pull someone over and realize it's your cousin' question, my reply would be 'which cousin?'

I heard once that the only tickets the CHP writes that they get the funds from was expired registration. Is that so, or does that also go to the locals?

The fines for 4000(a)(1) VC go to the local jurisdiction. However, the registration fees go to the DMV fund, which funds the Department.
