Good old American iron in Denmark (but those red wig-wags on the SFPD Ford are soooo wrong) running with Junior Brown playing "Highway Patrol." Fun stuff:

And that paint job on the Mustang is a mock up of the 1970 Porsche 917's

Actually, it mimics another Ford from the mid-sixties, the famous GT40 that was raced in the same Gulf Oil livery that graced those Porsches later on:

Coincidentally, I'm building a '65 Shelby GT350R in that same Gulf scheme right now. (I really wish it was in 1:1 for my garage but it's in 1:24 for my display case.)

You're right E4. Mocking up the GT40 paint does make more sense given it's a Ford. The first thing I thought of when I saw the colors was the movie Le Mans and the Gulf Porsches.

BTW,any truth it was called the GT40 because the roof was 40" from the ground?

He, he - That SFPD cruiser is mine. 3 of my friends and I shot that video on a cold and rainy day here in Denmark.

There is a better (I think) version of the video here (Unfortunally w/o Junior Brown, but with another cool, cool song): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xw5irF9hxzA

And yes - Those red wig-wags are wrong, but I think it ad some personality to the car. Maybe I'll remove'em again to make it more period correct.

What are the regulations for operating your Ford on the public roads in Denmark? That car has to be quite a sight in that part of the world!

Permitting....????? Oouups ! I just knew that we forgot something

But that cruiser IS quite a sight here in Denmark, where we are used to see small and humble Ford Mondeo's as copcars.

It's not a problem using the car as a daily driver here. The only thing that are not quite legal is the red lights facing forward. The car is inspected and passed it without any problems at all. (Ofcause without the red lights mounted that day...)

I've met and passed the danish Police (In danish = POLITI) a few times, and they only smile. Even they have a sence of humor. I didn't know.....

Next week my new toy will arrive from California to Denmark. It's a 1970 CHP Mercury.
Check it out here on my website: http://www.carnut.dk/us/1970chp/index.htm

Yes. The remake (2005/06) do not adhere to these same rules.

The car was named the GT (for Grand Tourisme (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gran_Turismo)) with the 40 representing its overall height of 40 inches (1.02 m, measured at the windshield) as required by the rules.
