I rather take the fire truck, because the 360 will either break down or catch fire before it gets to the scene.

For my particular job assignment, I would not want either one...Give me my F-250 4X4 anytime...If I had to choose one, I would take the Engine, even though it is the WRONG COLOR...

Santa Maria has green rigs? "I did not know that."

A few cities here (Santa Monica & Burbank) at one time changed to green fire trucks because "some report" from someone said people are more responsive to the color. I don't know what happened but they have since gone back to red.

I think Glendale FD still has "slime" green rigs.

OK....Here is the poop as I know it...Northwestern University (the one with the great traffic school) did a study in the 1970's and, using a broad spectrum of colors, ranging from A to Z, and under all kinds of weather conditions (fog, snow, rain, day night...) they found that the "Slime Green" was the color that was most visible, under the most conditions, thus, theoretically, the safest. I really like the color myself.

Hey bc,

Down here in LA the guys that work the Engines and EMS like to kid the guys that work the Trucks about not seeing much action. That may be true but when the Truckies do roll out of the hammock, they really earn the money....

Station #1 was built new in 2002 ($1.6 million)...Stations 2 & 3 were remodeled in 2003 ($300,000 each). Station #4 was opened January 2004 ($1.72 million)...One of my duties was the laision between the architect, the general contractor and the fire department. I call all of the stations, "The Houses That Jack Built"...
