So I went and got my wife a puppy lastnight. We had to get another Boston Terrier boy because we had to put Duke down. Although it has been really tough to get through, and I know that this new pup will never take his place, my wife loves him to death. We just got him and I am having trouble pinning a name on him. Here are a few I thought of, not necessarily in order of favorite: Waylon, Cash, Bandit, Roscoe P. Coultrain, Beauregard, Boss Hogg, Beuford T. Justice, Sarge, Chief, Chippie, Bear, PoPo, Ruger, Colt, Hunter, speed bump, and road kill. What do you think?
What can you come up with?

Awesome dog!!! I have a 7y/o lab/shepherd mix his name is Tucker. I've always thought CatDogg would be a funny name. But.....on your list I like Roscoe and Bear.
I like Beuford. Sorry about Duke. I lost my dog, Meg, last January. She was an Australian Cattle Dog. I would like to get another dog, but with a toddler and another baby on the way, I don't think my wife would think it is a good idea. :noidea:

I like Waylon or Cash. They were 2 of the Highway Men. Only makes sense if you are going to be a CHP officer.

Regardless of what you name the puppy, one thing is certain. You made your wife one happy lady. The look on her face, and the face of your puppy, are priceless. Happy housebreaking.

Bandit works for me as well. Seems to work well with his colours (for 23112 (http://www.chpforums.com/forum/showpost.php?p=39001&postcount=7)) as others have said.
Other FUN ideas.....
For a single guy, girlfriend always works.
For a single gal, boyfriend always works.
For a married person, kid always works.
ie,
I am hanging out with my __________ right now, what are you up to?(always sound busy)
I am going to go for a walk with my ____________ (always sound active)
My ____________ and I are going for a run, I am getting ready for the academy (Site themed and again active and busy).
.....just some fun ideas that I have heard in the past..
I would not suggest Snowdog though, as he may be your BI. :)

But at least there would be one "Snowdog" who was good looking and a hit with the ladies.

Awe man!! I didn't even think about the "Highway Men" angle. I had kind of settled on Bocephus last night but it may have to be Cash. After all he did cost a lot of it.

Thank you Snowdog. She does seam to smile a bit more. If I am lucky enough to clear psych and enter the academy by January, my wife would have been very lonely at home with no kids or anything. The new pup has fallen asleep on my wife the last two nights so she will have something to occupy her time and keep her company. As far as the house training goes,:evil: he is lucky he is so cute. I was not looking forward to doing this for a long time to come.

The puppy is sooo cute! Hey what about Snoopy? Years from now, he will give you fond memories of a land far, far away...
On a serious note, I like Bandit.
Cute dog. How about Bandit's counterpart: Smoky???

Tom, I remember peanut. She is a cutie. You know I was thinking about smokey but if I become a chippie I will be the Smokie. He would be the Bandit. We are trying a few out on him. I think he is getting really confused. Hey do you think it will come up on the psych that my favorite show of all time is Dukes of Hazard, and my favorite movie of all times is Smokie and the Bandit? Both of them being where the heroes of the story are running from the law, and kind of making them look silly in the process.:lol:

There was actually a guy that tested in this division at the same time Cg+fd2chp and I did, who wanted the job because he loved Chips when he was a kid. Sorry that show was sooooo cheasy, that I could not in all good conscience lie, and say that it was my favorite, just to gain favor with everybody here. manbearpig would be awesome. Not everybody would get it.

Not wise to show pics of your family my friend. There are alot of demented people out there and you do not want to give them any ideas on how to hurt you or your loved ones. Not saying that those types are reading these posts, however it has been proven that a large number of streetgangs, Crips, Bloods, HA's etc.....have "clean" members whose sole purpose is to infiltrate law enforcement. Be careful. Just a thought.

Good!...had you said CHiPs (notice the correct upper and lower case spelling!) was your favorite show, you would have gotten two of these:doh:!! And you're so right....Dukes of Hazard was not at all cheasy...

Tom you just made my day w/ that CHiPs time line post. I just realized how young I was when it was on. I'd prefer that show over the "reality" crap on t.v. now.:lol:

Ok so he likes to sleep in the leather jacket that I have had for 7 years. He woke up and started looking for an exit and he found the sleave.

If it's between Cash and Bandit, I'd cast my vote for Bandit. "Cash" sounds too ghetto for such a cute dog. What name does your wife prefer?

What you need to do is get another one, and name them Smith and Wesson.

that leather jacket picture is too dang cute! bandit is a good choice... you need two syllables with a dog! we have two dogs, gannon (named for rich, but pre-2003 super bowl) and ponch. we were stuck forEVER on a name for ponch. someone jokingly suggested it and it ended up sticking. but, with the two syllable rule, he's now ponchy.
anyway, the housebreaking... have you tried crate training? we swear by it. both of our dogs were rescue dogs who had been abused and especially ponchy had a TOUGH time housebreaking. he took to crate training like a dog to... uh, whatever dogs take to.

We have heard of crate training but to keep a puppy behind bars is too hard for a softy like me. He learned really quickly, what no means. With him I am just forced to watch him real closely and when he starts to sniff, I take him outside and praise him. He doesn't like the disapproval that meets with the other, and he is learning to use the dog door. He is doing pretty good but every once in a while I find a present he left for me. Luckily I have not found one barefooted yet. This dog is such a pleaser that it really does not take much to get him in line. Usually just a stern look will get him to comply.

How's Bandit adapting to the new lifestyle? ( hell, not so new anymore - how time flies! )
Take care and be safe out there
