My husband just shared this w/ me too. After Officers Dickey & Russell passed in Jun & July of this year I was hoping not to have a loss for the dept in quite some time. Of course I hope for no more losses ever, but I hope you understand what I mean. To all the officers out there stay safe & my thoughts & prayers are always w/ you & especially this officer & his family tonight. I hugged my officer a little more tonight.

RIP Sir. & I'm sorry for the loss.

I am not sure if they want his name released so I wont say it. But what I will say is this officer was a great guy. We were class mates in the academy CTC 3-06. He sat in front of me in almost every class and he was a great guy. Its hard to think that after only being on since April and already one of my friends is gone. Him and I were pretty good friends through the academy, and he was the roommate of another officer on this board. I am still kinda in shock right now so Im just gonna end my post here. Rest In Peace Brother.

John was an amazing guy who will be missed by all who knew him. He was my roommate, my friend, and my brother for 27 weeks at the academy and will always be that. I thing about the memories that we have together and will never forget how much fun we had together and how he made the academy just a little bit better.

I miss you brother

Officer John Miller R.I.P.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

LIVERMORE, Calif. -- Flags at the state Capitol are being flown at half-staff for a Dublin California Highway Patrol officer who died in a vehicle collision Friday night just north of Livermore, officials with Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's office announced Saturday.

At about 9:15 p.m., Officer John Miller was traveling southbound on North Livermore Avenue about a mile north of Interstate Highway 580 while trying to locate a suspected impaired driver, according to CHP Officer Steve Creel.

The 32-year-old Lodi resident approached a sharp curve in the road, lost control of his vehicle and fatally struck a tree, Creel said.

"Maria and I join all Californians in mourning the loss of Officer Miller who gave his life in the line of duty while honorably protecting his fellow citizens," Schwarzenegger said in a prepared statement. "California's law enforcement officers protect our communities day in and day out and words cannot adequately express how grateful we are for their service and sacrifice. Our thoughts and prayers are with Officer Miller's loved ones as they mourn the loss of a son, father, friend and fellow officer."

The suspected impaired driver was arrested near Greenville Road shortly after the fatal collision, according to Creel.

Miller had been with Dublin CHP since he graduated from the CHP academy in March. He is survived by his wife Stephanie and a son and a daughter.

It is never easy hearing something like this, especially when the officer was as young as he was. It is a stark reminder of reality to all of us looking ahead to the honor of being and officer with an outstanding organization such as the California Highway Patrol!

All of my thoughts are with the family of this officer, and with all of his brothers and sisters on the force!

Ironically, Friday night I arrested a drunk driver. After he blew a 1.8 and 1.6 He looked at me and said, "officer what did I do to you to make you arrest me?" I told him if he had not been stopped he would have killed himself or someone else.

They just don't get the impact of what they do.

RIP my friend

CHP officer killed over the weekend to be remembered today
The Associated Press
Article Launched: 11/19/2007 04:39:17 AM PST

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif.—A California Highway Patrol officer who was killed in a crash in Livermore over the weekend will be remembered by his fellow officers in a bell-ringing ceremony today.

Officer John Miller died Friday night after losing control on a sharp curve and crashing into a tree.

The CHP says at the time of the crash the 32-year-old officer was looking for a suspected drunken driver, who was later found and arrested.

Miller had been working out of the CHP's Dublin officer after graduating from the academy in March.

He's the third CHP officer killed this year. More than 200 have died in the history of the agency

The ceremony is set for 11:00 this morning at the CHP academy in West Sacramento.

John was a roommate, brother, and friend forever. John will always be missed. For those of us in CTC III-06, we will remember all the "comments" he made and how entertaining he was.

Please continue to pray for Stephanie, Chandler, and Reese.
