Man Sentenced For Shooting CHP Officer
January 13, 2006 - A South Valley man convicted of trying to kill a CHP officer will spend more than 20 years in prison for the crime.
A judge sentenced Salvador Gasca on Friday in Tulare County.
Police say last March, Gasca shot CHP officer Dominick Garay twice during a routine traffic stop in Earlimart.
Gasca and his wife then fled to Southern California, where authorities found him a few months later.
Prosecutors believe Gasca would have killed Officer Garay.
