The Academy is pretty cush by giving holidays off. That's the last one you'll see once you report to your area office--you'll probably have Monday and Tuesday as your "weekend." There is no such thing as "less PT" while you're at the Academy. They don't want you ballooning up as soon as you graduate. Embrace PT now, at the Academy, and afterward--otherwise you'll lose all that you gained while you were there.

You got that right!! I'm in the best shape I've been in over 10 years. And to think, I will be in even better shape after the academy. There is no way I am going to throw it all away!!

Hopefully we can both stick to that frame of mind jerm, but we will see what happens when they aren't feeding us anymore.

So what holidays do Cadets get liberty for?

It all depends on what time of year you are going. I know I-08 is getting Cesar Chavez Day and 4th of July. I know that around Thanksgiving and Christmas you get a couple of days off. It all depends. But you don't get all state holidays off.

THAT'S WHAT THEY ALL SAY...JUST YOU WAIT!
So what holidays do Cadets get liberty for?CHP works 24/7/365. I would not try and guarantee ANY time off for ANY specific holiday. CTC II-07 was lucky that July 4th fell on a Wed, so those not on restriction did have the evening off. Those who were on restriction did get a show though I heard. Christmas and Thanksgiving were off, but Thanksgiving weekend was ride along weekend for CTC II-07 in their new areas.

CTC III-07 had Christmas and Thanksgiving off, but we were told at the time that they would be the last class to have these off. I don't know what the future holds for you here, but don't count on extra days off. And get used to that now. Holidays are when you can be with your loved ones to celebrate, not necessarily on the days the calendars say.
