Ok, so my DMV report is clean HOWEVER, I know I have citations from years ago (more than 10 years). How can I get the information on these in order to list them? I saw a few other threads where people listed they were "researching" old citations, so what exactly does that mean and how can I do the same ??!!
THANKS

Try going to the Court House and the Police Dept that issued the tickets

Ok, so I spoke with a very nice lady in the Antelope Valley CHP office and she told me about a "form 70" available through DMV that can give driver details for more than ten years. It can be found here
www.dmv.ca.gov/forms/inf/inf70.pdf (http://www.dmv.ca.gov/forms/inf/inf70.pdf)
So if any other applicants are like me, over 26, and need more than a ten year driving history for citation information... there ya go...

While we are waiting for the DMV what do we put on our 446F?

The truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
If you have only had 2-4 tickets it should be pretty easy to remember.
If you've had 15-20 tickets, WalMart is hiring
Just kidding, plenty of us had a not so perfect driving history when we applied.

WAL-MART is hiring! How cruel! True...but cruel...and if someone has that many tickets I think Wal-Mart would be more inclined to make it a non-driving position. AND forget being a greeter...when I pull the pin, that's MY job!

:lol::lol::lol: It was pretty hard to try and remember all mne. 12 or so over 13 years including fix it tickets. I am sure I missed a few of those, but I did my best to get every piece of info on myself that I could get.

I don’t ever post on the forum; however, this subject does apply to the stage of the process I’m currently in. My problem is that I’m active duty military and I am stationed in Montana. The DMV is very difficult to work with over the phone. In order to get my traffic history in time for my PAT and QAP, I had to go find the tickets in my file and remember the ones that I didn’t keep in my records. I have received 6 citations in the last 7 years the first 3 citations were in the first year and one of the more recent citations was dismissed. I’m hoping that I will be ok but there is only one way to find out.

I don't want to post a new thread on this, because it is a related question. I went to County Archives and they could only pull up 2 tickets which were fix it tickets, they couldn't get any of my speeding tickets (from when i was a minor). They said they had a system they could check and they didn't see any. She gave me a certificate of search that shows all of my retrievable information.
I know have at least 5 speeding tickets. How do I get these, please help PAT is Dec 1st!

If you only have 5 it shouldn't be too difficult. One of the techniques we use is we ask questions to help the applicant recall the event such as how old were you, what car were you driving, what year did you own that car, what season was it, who was with you.
In other words, we hypnotize you. Just kidding.
This often gets the required results during the initial interview. You don't have to be absolutely accurate. In fact if you are off by a year or so, it's usually no big deal because you made the effort to disclose the information accurately.
Now, if you only disclosed 5 but in fact there are 20, that will be a big deal.
There is some information that really has gone to ticket heaven (or is now working at WalMart) and can not be found. But I wouldn't risk that it has disappeared because you never know where it might suddenly pop up.
Good Luck!

I am in the same boat. I haven't had a ticket in years (knocks on wood) and since I can't remember the old dates I sent off the for information from Sacramento via the paperwork I listed earlier in this thread...
For an update, I still haven't received anything from the DMV headquarters, in fact, they haven't even cashed the check yet. So I think it is safe to say I will not be getting the exact information for the PAT on the 12.01.07 (Yes I will be there too).
So I am just going to make a very educated guess and be as honest as I remember, hope thats good enough . I am sure it will be fine as effort and honesty will be at the forefront.

I was under the impression that if you just needed the print out list you can get it from the DMV local office?? And if you need a photo copy you have to mail it off?

Well I am no expert but from what I have learned so far... You can get a 3 year or 10 year print our from the DMV unfortunately I need to go back farther than that so I needed to get a special printout from the main DMV office in Sacramento...
If I could remember the tickets I got I wouldn't need this but I cant remember them all so I must :(

Well I sent away to Sacramento for my official 15 year driving record. Unfortunately, all the citations and accidents that are taken off your record after a few years are just that... taken off your record.
So as far as I know the only way to get old citation information is to sit and think real hard (this is what I am doing before Saturdays PAT).
Others have said you can call the PD of the city where the citation occurred but I never had any luck with that either. So good luck everyone!
Doesn't sound like much of a 15 year record then... What's the point of providing 15 years of history when everything has expired in no more than 10 years?
A H-6 printout should help with at least the last seven years.

Almost everything goes through a court, including fix it tickets. Try going to the courthouse and finding anything that has your name on it in the last ten years. I found stuff there that I long ago forgot about.

Oh my apologies, most of mine went through the court, except for the ones that were issued by the chippies around here and were corrected within the 30 days that used to be allowed.

Like Snowdog has already said, make every effort to disclose your history accurately. When I went through, I couldn't remember exactly when I got the citations I received in my younger years. However, I had a pretty good idea of what kind of citations I received and about how many there were (a lot). That was sufficient for my background investigator. If you only "remember" your two fix-it tickets--and your BI finds your reckless driving ticket and your exhibition of speed cite--I don't imagine you'd look like the most honest candidate out there. Tell 'em everything, even if it's just a hazy memory.

I have my record, but I don't Understand it. I have suspensions due to FTA. How can I tell how long the suspension was for, and for which ticket? I have been able to keep a clean record for a few years now, But I just want to make sure my info from the past is accurate.
