Any of you out there ever heard of Whatifsports.com? The web address is http://www.whatifsports.com. Check it out when you get a moment. If a number of you are interested, I can start a baseball league and we can all play against each other.
It's basically a computer simulation that allows you to create a team with whatever players you want from whatever year you want. You have a salary cap and you get to manage almost every detail of the game. PM me if you have any questions. I think it would be a lot of fun because we are always trash talking in the league. I know some of you are up for that!

It takes a little time to research a team and make your settings, then just some minor adjustments throughout the season. Typically there is an 80 mil. salary cap. With the team you're looking at depending on what years you're selecting of these players, you would be way over that. I can set-up a higher salary cap though.
I would say try one of the free spring seasons they do to see if you like it. It's only 10 games and the computer simulates 3 games per day.
Let me know if you have any questions.

I participated in a hockey league there recently; I was disappointed to be run over by the guys who know EXACTLY what stats are over-emphasized by the simulator. Things like shooting percentage were much more important than goals, my 1997 Dominik Hasek couldn't stop a beach ball, and a lot of little quirks like that.
You might want to research what type of team to build based specifically on the simulator. I think my team which included Gretzky, Lemieux, Joe Thornton, Orr, Rob Blake, among many others went something like 6-76.
Maybe the baseball sim is a little better. It has the potential to be very fun.

Ok, I have just set-up a free spring league for the first 5 that are interested in joining. Just go to http://www.whatifsports.com and set-up a free account. Then you will go to "Start a New Team" and make sure to click on the free exhibition season. From there you will have a couple options. Choose the "Join an Existing League" option and type in MLB71236 as the league number. That's it!! Then you just have to create your team. Let me know if you have questions.
TIP: Defensive stats play a pretty big part in this game, so don't overrate them!

It does take a while to figure out how to build a good team, but fortunately the staff at Whatifsports.com change the salaries every now and then to make it interesting. They also make revisions which effect gameplay every few months. I have tried all the sports they offer and Baseball is by far the best.

You can actually choose the whole 2007 Rockies team if it fits within the 80 mil. salary cap. They just loaded the 2007 rosters on Monday! For the record, I think the Rockies will win it all!

I forgot to mention it is the Exhibition Season under Simleague Baseball that you want. Thank you Tom for bringing this to my attention. I forgot there are many different types of games on Whatifsports.com
