How does the Academy compare to the Marine Corps bootcamp? Just curious about the stress factor between the two.

I remember reading a post from a former Marine on this subject. You can probably find it if you use the search function. But I remember he said that the physical aspect was pretty much the same, and if he were pressed on the issue, would probably say the CHP Academy was a little more difficult than basic training in the Marines.

Apples and Oranges...

More academics at the CHP Academy, plenty of sweating at both. Take it from someone who has graduated from both places, don't fall in to the pattern of trying to compare the Marine Corps to the CHP. Different missions, and different training styles.

The main purpose of boot camp training is to break everyone down to the same level and bring them back to the corps thinking with discipline and comportment.

The main purpose of the CHP Academy is to teach you to think for yourself and conduct yourself in a professional demeanor.

Both stress physical fitness and conditioning - "lean, mean, fighting machines." However, the CHP teaches to kill to protect life and limb. The corps teaches to kill on command in an aggressive manner during war and for the defense of our nation.

A stronger regimine of study and intellectual improvement at the CHP Academy compared to the boot camp of the corps.

Most of the 8 Marines that failed out of my class were HORRIBLE drivers...

8 for horrible driving eh.......that is too bad because I never met a former Marine who was not a good CHP officer.
Maybe they should have given them something like this to drive........
