That would be really useful to get out there and actually spend some time with an officer on the job. I have a friend in the CHP, should I just ask him or is there some one I should call and talk to?
Thanks for all of this information.... Its really helping!

Liz,
Use the search feature on this site, there are several posts related to ride alongs and at what point in the application process to seek one.
Best of luck to you in your endeavours, and welcome to the site.

"How do I get a "Ride Along" with a CHP Officer?"
Jump on 395 and just drive until you see either border. Don't forget to only use the gas pedal and stop every once in a while for an ice cold beer .....just kidding. Call up a recruiter- ride alongs are fun and will give you a better idea of what the job is all about....I did a bunch before I was hired.
