I was wondering if anyone out there that is in the process in Inland Division have gotten a date for their Inital Background Interview that took their QAP the week of 7/30/07? I took mine, passed and got my commitment letter a few weeks back. Just wondering. I am all set and anxious to get through backgrounds and hopefully to the January academy.

Spoke to soon! My wife just called and my BI left a message on our machine introducing himself and reminding me to get my docs together. Things are moving along!!

Hello everyone. I am new to the forum and just beginning the application process. I was hoping to find other "future cadets" who are currently at my level of the application process and/or going through the Inland Division for testing as well. If any of you are out there and have already started the process feel free to share your experiences with me through the forum. It would be very insightful. Good luck to everyone and I hope to see you at the academy.

Be prepared for a paramilitary setting at your Psych Written/PAT Test. Show up shaved, and with a clean hair cut. Wear ATHLETIC attire (jogging shorts/pants, running shoes, NIKE Shirt etc). Don't wear a hat. Shave your goatee. Be prepared to stand at attention, and run from one station to the next. Make sure your car doesn't have any illegal modifications (front license plate, tinted windows, mudflaps etc).

It will be a long day. Bring water and a few power bars. The Psych written is the worst part about the day. Approx 600 scantron questions.

OH. And stretch. A lot.

Make sure you look neat for the written test as well. No hats. Look nice.

Good Luck!

Steven

Just wondering why the "future cadets" should worry about illegal modifications to the vehicles they will be driving to the testing sites? Do the cars get ticketed?

The applicant is trying to become an officer with the CHP, and these are some of the things that the applicant may be looking for in the future.

Isn't it obvious?

If I wanted a job a vegetarian chef, I wouldn't walk into my interview with a hot dog in my hand and a "Where's the beef?" T-shirt.

Or if I wanted a job with the fire department, I wouldn't toss my cigarette in the dry brush in front of the fire station.

Or if I wanted to be a college professor, I wouldn't have dropped out of junior high school and avoided learning to read.

And if I wanted a job as an athletic trainer, I woudn't be a 348 pound man with more chins than a...well, you know.

Does it make more sense now? (So make sure hubby peels off the tint.)

You would think...Reminds me of the guy that showed up to the PAT drunk from the night before. :hitwall:

Great to know. Now I will park as far away as possible and take out my nipple piercings.

I understand that the illegal modifications are just that, illegal. My reason for asking was because I just simply wanted to know if the cars were going to be looked at by officers while the applicants are testing, etc. And my husband does not have any illegal modifications to his vehicle. But thanks for the heads up...

I thought that this forum was available for those of us inquiring about the applicant process, academy information, etc. Not to be mocked or made a joke out of. I am glad to know there are others out there who want to help the spouses and family members of possible future cadets. I apologize if my question came of as being ditsy or if I did not put much effort in the way I worded it. It was just that, a question. :noidea:

I thought that this forum was available for those of us inquiring about the applicant process, academy information, etc. Not to be mocked or made a joke out of. Welcome to the sarcasm of law enforcement... Although I'm not going to give away all our secrets, common sense says that an applicant to a traffic-focused law enforcement agency should not show up in a tricked-out car. I think that's what snowdog was getting at.

We do our best to separate the applicant's from the families (i.e., applicant's get yelled at, families get support), but sometimes the line is gray.

Anyway, relax. If you fell compelled, chip in to the fund we're collecting to send snowdog to finishing school. He's a great guy and cares more than you know, trust me on this one.
