I understand that patience is the name of the game. However, can anyone tell me the likelyhood of making it in the October class? I recieved my notice of clearing the medical on the 20th of August and have have been told I will be contacted for the psych. oral interview. I was told I was on "the list" for an appointment. What does that mean? It just seems like when I look at other peoples dates of their oral psych. it seems like I am running out of time......any thoughts besides the obvious "breath" and "patience"?

"Running out of time" isn't exactly the phrase I would use. I mean, upon being medically and psychologically cleared, you're set with an Academy class. It may not be October, but you'll be headed there soon enough. Keep in mind the way things are "supposed" to work, once cleared, you sit on the "shelf" until a class is available. It just so happens there is no shelf at the present.
I'm saying it could be a lot worse -- there could be 300 people in line ahead of you to get into the Academy. Having to wait until until January, while a disappointment, isn't the end of the world.
(And no, I have no idea about the likelihood of you making the October class -- too many variables.)

Last November, I was where you are now. I was anxiously waiting to see if I could get in the December class (CTC IV-06). It didn't happen, but I was invited to the April class (CTC I-07). I used those extra months to prepare a great deal more physically and mentally.
You will need it. Be thankful for it.
