Greetings from France,
I'd like to trade french police insignias for CHP ones or collectibles:
Paris PD:
patch, Lt. metal badge on leather holder, summer plastic made badge sewn on leather holder, hat metal piece
Police Nationale:
motor officer badge, anti-riot unit CRS hat piece, CRS patch sewn on leather tab, border patrol
Trading policy: these insignias are in good condition, I trade 1 patch for 1 patch, 1 badge for 1 badge; I can trade several items for 1 nice collectible.
Let's trade !

I've heard of people trading patches before, but a badge? Is that allowed in California?

I heard insignia collectors trade badges everywhere in the world.
I have some american badges yet but a genuine CHP badge would be very interesting to complete the uniform I am trying to make.
Anyway, any CHP collectible will be nice.
Phil,
I'm not sure of the badge thing...but if you PM me your address I'll send you a patch. No charge.

Phil:
You can get patches on e-bay, or purchase a "genuine" uniform from these guys: http://www.westerncostume.com/home.html
Here's a link to the company that makes the real badges:
http://www.sunbadgeco.com/index.htm
There was an amazing auction site that sold "collectors" badges, but it's down... I guess the feds finally got to it. But yeah, try google. You're bound to find some collectors sites where you can trade something or just purchase a "replica" CHP badge.

Someone please tell me ordering a badge is not as easy as going to a web site.

Sadly, it's really easy. Anyone can buy a replica badge, gear, and rent a crown vic, if they really wanted to. Of course, the main concern is with terrorism. They showed all these phoney NYPD uniforms and equipment on CNN a while back that the feds ceased in some NSA raid; Scary.

The NSA would not complete a raid, FYI. Here (http://www.cnn.com/2005/US/05/10/fake.badges/?section=cnn_topstories)is the link to the CNN story I think you are talking about. It was an ICE operation.

Their raids are executed by the Department of Homeland Security, or some other federal agency, like the US Marshal Service. You never hear anything about the NSA in the media, besides this huge deal now about them conducting wiretaps without a warrant. BTW, that's not the story, although it's very similar. Thanks anyway.

Like I posted earlier, they are done by ICE. If you don't know what that is, www.google.com type in I.C.E. and see what you come up with. I know a lot about the NSA/US Marshal service for reasons not worth mentioning here.
And, can you tell me where on CNN they have anything about NYPD Uniforms being collected in a raid. I provided a source to back my statements. Here, I will help your search. Here? (http://search.cnn.com/pages/search.jsp?query=NYPD+uniforms&sortby=Date)
Not trying to be an ass, just keeping you accountable.

Yes, I know what Immigration and Customs Enforcement is. I live in Southern California, thus see them in action all the time.
I can't find the article, it was probably time sensitive and the link doesn't exist anymore. I don't feel like starting another stupid argument, since you have a knack for "correcting" me.

Oh and Red, poke around this site:
http://www.dhs.gov/dhspublic/
BTW, I saw a DHS agent a while back by my house in full body armor, standing next to his all white Ford Expedition with DHS seals on the doors and DHS written all over it. He was assisting a U.S. Dept. of Forestry ranger with an arrest. I'll ask my friend that's employed by them and will also try to get some pics of them in action, that I'll be able to post. Who knows, maybe it was an ICE agent?

Boys, thanks for your concern about this topic.
I'll write to Sunbadge but I doubt they ever sale any badge to a civilian..........
I feel very concern about impersonators and especially terrorism; but what about honest collectors. It is a sane and nice hobby that brings friendship from all over the world.
I also know many cops are insignias collectors. Most of those I know in France are on duty or retired cops.
My purpose is to complete a CHP uniform to wear while I attend car shows with my CHP cruiser replica and the badge is a very important part of the uniform. I'll be very glad to get a genuine one but a nice copy will be fine. I also would like to begin a CHP items collection.
I would prefer to trade it then to buy it on internet. I like the friendship relation that trading can bring.

Do you think they 'll sell overseas ?
Here is their shipping policy:
We ship via United Parcel Service only. Shipping and handling charges will be applied to all orders. We do not ship via the United States Postal Service and cannot ship to P.O. boxes. International shipments charged according to currrent rates.
Hope this helps.

I heard about a CHP 75th Years of Service badge created on 2004 for the celebrations.
Could someone here help me to get one ? Thanks in advance

That's going to be very hard to find. I don't think they're available anymore and were custom deals. (Anyone know if you can still get one, I'd like to if so.)

Only recently did we get a cloth badge. They are now approved (and must be) worn with the blue Utility Uniform. I have yet to see one of the patch-badges, but I'm sure the sale will be restricted.
I saw them yesterday - our office just got their order. And I'm also sure their sale will be restricted since it's a "genuine" uniform article.

Thanks for the help! But im not to sure about the restriction because I have seem many collectors with them but CHP can restrict them now. But I have a CHP Lt.badge and the officers dont seem to care they just told me not to let it get stolen. Can some body get a scan of one and post it on here?I want to know if they look differnt than the ones I have seen
