I just watched the latest CHP pursuit on this website...http://cbs2.com/video?cid=98 It is the video titled "CHP uses pit maneuver to stop Honda."

I must say that the pit maneuver seemed to be have been executed flawlessly! Nice job!

LOL!! Just an observer...those officers make it look easy, but I'm sure it must take quite a bit of practice!

Do any of the officers here have been involved in car chases? If so, do you remember your first chase ever and how you felt at that moment?

I saw this on the news as well. I'm no professional at spinning vehicles out but that sure looked like a textbook move to me.

I have photographic evidence that the PIT maneuver don't always work right. Especially if it ain't applied right.
If I can make the photo fit I'll post it on here sometime.

Like when the suspect's car ends up spinning out and hitting the primary, and everyone goes sideways? I've seen lots of close calls on the news where that almost happens, or the suspect almost ends up hitting Cal-Trans workers or something. The pursuit everyone's talking about almost ended the same way. If you watch the video closely you'll see that the suspect's honda almost slammed into the CHP unit that initiated the PIT.

Guess that's one way a high speed pit can backfire.

Great. Works Afternoon shift. I only run into him at the end of his and beginning of mine though. Good guy. Good shift partner.

I'm sure a lot more than you, looking out an office window onto an on-ramp of the 405. If I'm not there first hand then I hear about it from my friends.

Good to hear. When I heard about that big rig crash on the 118 a few months back I was hoping that wasn't him.

How's C watch in East County? I was out with the VSO on grave before everyone moved into the new station, it was pretty slow; Sgt. Pat Buckley was one of my college professors. I heard your Captain got into a little spat with the sheriff deputies because all their personal cars don't have front plates, are tinted in the front, etc.

Not even close. He only feels responsible for HIS officers. He leaves other officers/deputies / supervisors to deal with their own responsibilities. Your information is incorrect.

Nevermind then, forget I mentioned it. But yeah, the Moorpark station is a nice area to work out of. It's really senior, so I take it you guys almost never get fresh officers. I know Robbi something got in though, his dad is the Chief of Coastal or something to that nature. Anyway, how do you like the new station and sharing it with the Sheriff's Dept? I bet it's better than working out of a church, or an elementary school like the Sheriffs were.

Whatever SB405, stop crying about the edit button being gone. I know what happened and if Darth doesn't want to talk about it then that's cool.

there are ways to keep your car moving after a PIT. I am not going to tell you how to do it on a public access forum. it is pretty simple, but requires timing and good driving ability, which most people do not have.
