OAKLAND - A 35-year-old man playing with fireworks inside his chemical-filled apartment early Thursday morning ignited his clothing, leaving him with third degree burns over 40 percent of his body, authorities said.
The man, whose name was not released, was in critical but stable condition today at St. Francis Hospital in San Francisco, where he is expected to recover.
"He's in really bad shape, but is expected to live," a police spokesperson said.
Police and firefighters responded to the 3100 block of Harrison Street shortly after 12 a.m. Thursday. They found the man on fire in the street and his apartment burning, Oakland Police Sgt. Barry Donelan said.
The man was able to tell police he was playing with fireworks inside the apartment and accidentally caught himself on fire.

Another resident of the apartment complex told police she woke up and "heard terrible screams and saw (the man) coming down the stairs on fire."
Firefighters extinguished the flames and discovered large quantities of chemicals inside the apartment. The apartment was sealed off and a search warrant obtained by authorities. The fire department hazmat team was on the scene this morning, as were investigators from the state Bureau of Narcotics Enforcement to determine if the man may have been operating an illegal methamphetamine lab in the apartment.

While I certainly have compassion for burn victims, I don't hold any love at all for meth and it's sundry manufacturers, dealers and users......so would I be horrible for saying

Doh! Dumbass!

Yes, just like aspirin for in-custodies after a deuce crash.

I think it depends on my current mood and their current demeanor.
