I've searched these forums and all the paperwork that my husband received and could not find an answer.

Are vitamins and over the counter allergy medication like Claritin allowed up at the academy? I read that prescribed medications have to be turned it, but I wasn't sure if these are things my husband can bring up with him in June.

Thank you.

The SOP for Cadets is a living document and can change at any time, however when I was up at Camp Snoopy over the counter medications, vitamins, and the such are allowed but the Staff Office has to be notified of them.

yep, that has been my husband's experience (CTC-I-07), but may I add a thought: have him bring everything you think he might need, such as advil (potential headaches ), allergy meds if he needs them, a nasal decongestant, pepto-bismol. The benefit to having stuff like that the first day is it gets reported all at once and he won't have to report to the staff office later if he wants to add one of them to his arsenal. Don't sweat it too much, just something to think about.

Thank you for your responses. I will just set him up with it all when he leaves on the 17th!

Prescription meds only need to be reported to the Staff Office. On the first day, cadets will receive SOP training with instructions.

Basically, the cadet submits a blue card with the information. That way, if some emergency comes up, the Staff Office has the information readily available. Its no big deal really, unless they find prescription meds which have not been declared.
