A member on the forum PM'ed me regarding an application that turned out to be lost and I wanted to share some information.
Once your application is processed, you should receive a confirmation letter within a few (meaning three to four) weeks. If, after a month, you haven't heard anything, you may want to check with Sacramento. Applications do get lost. For the volume we process, it's bound to happen.
Please be patient and do not call Sacramento prematurely to satisfy your curiosity. They have far more important things to do than field calls from applicants all day.
What all this means is it's a good idea to submit your application well before the final filing date so you have time to submit another if something goes wrong. It also goes without saying you should neatly print and fill in the scantron bubbles so it doesn't get kicked back.
