Ugly past has caught up w/ me. I had a domestic conviction in 2000 and signed a 10 year gun waiver. Obviously I can't be hired anywhere with it over my head. I currently have a lawyer going to the D.A. to see if he'll set aside the waiver. Has anyone heard of this situation? If so what were the results? Thanks

The gun issue is only one big hurdle you have to overcome. There are other laws that may permanently withhold you based on your conviction.

I failed to add that it was a misdemeanor (sp?) conviction and there was no gun involved, any feedback?. I appreciate your reply Snowdog.

I understood that there was no gun involved but that doesn't change my response. Without knowing all of the circumstances, and I don't want to know, it is still possible that you may be precluded from ever becoming a peace officer. It all depends on the circumstances of the incident and the conviction.
I failed to add on my first response that I have seen similar cases before and all have had negative reults for the applicant.
Good luck.
