Does anyone on here work in any of the areas North of Sacramento, along I-5, or on Highway 299 through Trinity County and into Humboldt?
I'll be flying into Sacramento on Friday and then making my usual drive up I-5 and over 299 to Arcata and expect to see a lot of highway patrol on the road, as is usual around holiday weekends. It's funny, now that I've started the hiring process, I hope to see the highway patrol to check them out in action, rather than hoping to avoid seeing them (especially in my rearview mirror lighting me up!).

Does anyone know how the road conditions have been on 299? There always seems to be some kind of incident when I make that drive during the winter months.

Thanks and be safe this weekend.

I-5 is clear. Most of the snow is melting right now because a recent warm front that came through. We're just getting rain.

299 west from Redding has been clear of snow for a while, however have been flying over while enroute to the coast lately and have been seeing alot of low lying valley fog. Roads will be wet and visability less than usual so be safe.

Seeing a chippie in your rear view mirror is sometimes bad as you mention, but having one take your face page info always sucks.

Ah the rain and fog... I never thought I'd say it, but I can't wait to be driving through it.

Hurricanes in the South Pacific? I don't like the sound of that. Hadn't planned on that when I moved here. Maybe a tsunami or two, or a volcano eruption maybe. Thing about Hawaii rain vs. Nor Cal rain, is it's a lot easier to handle when you can still wear flip flops and shorts cause 20 minutes later, the sun will be out. I do miss the fog and rain from home tho. Even though 80 degress in December is nice, it still doesn't feel like Christmas time. I'll be touching down in CA this time tomorrow! (if you can't tell, I'm pretty excited about it)
