observing the forum for over a year now and have had most of my questions answered by other applicants, chippies and the moderators. I have found the forum to be very insightful for applicants such as myself.
A few months back I received my conditional letter of hire (2/1/07) and turned in the PHS shortly thereafter. I have not been contacted to date from a BI and was wondering if anyone out in the Border Division was in a similar situation?
I would also like to stress that while I understand that patience is a virtue, Im just trying to get an idea as to whether I should reapply or continue to wait for a response. Based on previous posts, it seems pretty subjective about when/if an applicant should start bothering the hiring division.
Thanks for any feed back in advance.

Looks to me like you got a 70 last June when that was an automatic DQ. But things changed earlier this year so now you are back in the running. Chances are that your case was assigned to a background investigator that is already carrying other cases and you are basically at the bottom of their stack. Call your references and inquire if they have received any correspondence from a background investigator. If they have, sit tight. They're working on getting to you. If not, I would suggest waiting another month before making a call to inquire about your status. This gives the background investigators at least one quarter to clear some of their case load and hopefully get to you.
You cannot reapply simply because you already have an application in process. And if you somehow get past the checks and balances to avoid dual applications it can create havoc in the future.
Good luck.

What's the score got to do with it? I got a 95, and people I had tested with were already in the academy by the time I had my initial background interview!

The score has everything to do with it. If you look at his post you see that he had his QAP June of 2006 and he received a 70. (I'm a trained observer). At that time 70's were an automatic DQ, although the letter stated something similar to "you will remain on the eligibility list for two years". In February the Department decided to expand it's hiring pool by considering applicants who received a score of 70 or higher and made this retroactive to include applicants from 2006. Therefore, Ironhand was mailed a COE and invited into backgrounds. By this time, another testing cycle had advanced ahead of him. As has been said here many times, every background investigation is different and does not take the same amount of time to complete so it is very possible that others in your testing cycle could be in the Academy before you have your initial interview.
