If you love the sights and sounds of fast cars this is the place to be this weekend. You don't need to purshase tickets in advance and a general admission ticket for Sunday will run you $50.00. I've been going to this race since the 80's and always have a great time.

My friends have pit passes and such courtesy of the Rayhals

Let's hope Bobby Rahals son (Graham) has a better race this week. Last week in Las Vegas the kid stuck it in the wall before he compleated a lap.

I went to the San Jose Grand Prix a couple years ago and those guys are amazing. There's nothing like that much horsepower and speed flying down small city streets.

My wife and I have been going to Champ Car races since 1997 - back when the great Alex Zanardi was racing for Chip Ganassi. This would have been our 10th year in a row at Long Beach...but I wouldn't trade my spot at the Academy for anything!
I must say - I miss Laguna Seca...now that was a great time and an awesome race!

I was down there as well. First time at this event and it was a lot of fun. I had Red Bull hospitality passes and had great seats at turn 10. It was a lot of fun! I will definitely make this trip again!!
CHP related, there were a handful of Officers out there, even a K9 unit. The K9 actually got up on top of the Camaro that was on display for a photo-op. I was a lil slow on the draw to get the picture..

I'll probably go on Friday...I'll try to make it at least one of the three days this year since it's the last Champ Car race...

And no Paul Tracy again this year if Forsythe Racing quits Champ Car.

Stop by the Long Beach Convention Center during the Grand Prix and visit the CHP booth. Bring family and friends to take a picture next to the new CHP Charger.

Me and my dad used to go every year. We went for about 7 years in a row, so awesome. I will never forget those races. I remember Alex Zanardi. He was so good it was almost unfair. Unfortunatly once all the big names started moving to the IRL (Andretti, Penski Racing, and others) we stopped going because we didn't really know most of the drivers there. We always got the garage passes and it was awesome getting so close to the cars. I used to love it when they would warm up the engine or test it and the race gas used to make my eyes water......ahhhhh good times. The Trans-Am race was almost always the closest race and hardly anyone would stay for it on Sunday! If you have never been and have the chance, do it! It is so worth it.

That charger (above) has been at our office for the week. Not sure why. Guessing they will take it to the LB Grand Prix for publicity/recruiting.
