Ladies and Gentlemen,
This forum had been created to promote professional networking for employees of the California Highway Patrol, as well as those interested in the Department.
Everyone is welcome here!
Please register and contribute ideas, articles, and law enforcement issues to our forum.
Forum Rules & Information:
Registration to this forum is free! We do insist that you abide by the rules and policies detailed below.
The primary purpose of this message board is to promote discussion of the California Highway Patrol, California law, and law enforcement in general. This is a professional website and we strive to keep it that way. Anything less will not be tolerated. Thus, members need to conduct themselves accordingly.
Please adhere to the following rules. Your comments and suggestions are welcome.
A. MEMBER CONDUCT
1. Professional Conduct is Expected
Degrading posts and name-calling are not permitted. Therefore, do not post comments that attack other members, moderators or administrative personnel. This message board is intended for a free exchange of information and ideas. Keep this in mind if someone disagrees with your point of view and be sure to extend courtesy to others if you disagree with them. Disagreement often leads to informative, lively, and meaningful discussion of the issues. Try not to take it personally. If you feel that someone has crossed the line, either reply in a respectful manner, or send them a Private Message (PM), or report the post to a moderator.
2. Agency Bashing
Excessive negativity towards any particular agency will not be tolerated. This is not to say that negative comments about agencies are not allowed. If you have something negative to say about an agency, however, please find an objective way to do so. Nonetheless, if you post negative comments, be sure to explain exactly what you don?t like and the basis for your opinion. If you are uncertain as to whether your comments will cross the line, feel free to contact a moderator to discuss your intentions beforehand.
3. Anti-Law Enforcement Posts
Any blatant anti-law enforcement posts may be deleted. Members creating such posts are subject to permanent ban.
4. Content
Members are required to use common sense and good judgement when posting messages. Do not post speculation as fact. Members of the general public shall defer to those involved with law enforcement in response to specific questions.
B. PROHIBITED CONTENT
1. Links to Commercial or Controversial Websites
Please do not post active links to these types of websites unless the information is requested by a member in a prior post. Feel free to share such links through the Private Message system.
2. Advertising
Advertising and offering products or services for sale may be allowed in open threads. Check with a moderator if you have any questions or concerns.
4. Private Names and Contact Information
Listing the names, addresses and phone numbers of private individuals is not allowed. Feel free to list the main number of an agency, but not the names of agents, officers, administrative personnel, or other employees, even if the information is provided in a public phone book. Simply put, we do not want agency personnel to be inundated with phone calls or mail as a result of message board posts. Feel free to exchange this information through the Private Message system.
5. Confidential Policies and Procedures
Disclosure of any California Highway Patrol or other departmental policy and/or procedure that is not readily available to the general public is not acceptable. If you have a question about disclosure, contact an administrator or moderator first. Disclosure of any confidential hiring material is prohibited.
6. See Also Specific Hiring Discussion Rules (http://www.chpforums.com/Default.aspx?g=posts&t=872)
C. MEMBERSHIP
Anyone may be a member of this forum.
An individual shall create and possess only one user account.
Members agree not to share, copy or redistribute any material, including messages, that are copyrighted or restricted.
Members agree not to post any material that is illegal, racist, sexist, in bad taste, or promotes copyright violations. Spamming or other offensive behavior is not allowed.
All members understand and agree to use the forum at their own risk and can not be held liable for any damages resulting from the use of this area. Members should exercise caution when posting information they do not want publicized publicly. Although we make every effort to protect your information, you should use common sense when posting details about yourself.
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold CHPForums and its owners harmless from any and all claims, losses, liability costs, and expenses (including but not limited to attorneys' fees) arising from your violation of this Agreement or any third-party's rights, including but not limited to infringement of any copyright, violation of any proprietary right and invasion of any privacy rights. This obligation will survive any termination of this Agreement. Members can be terminated for any reason we see fit without explanation.
D. VIOLATIONS
Members must agree to the terms and conditions contained in this message. Anyone who deliberately violates any of these terms and conditions may be banned immediately without notice.
When a violation of the rules has occurred, moderators usually provide a warning to offenders either when editing the subject post or by sending a Private Message (or both). However, members should not expect a warning and should understand they could be banned immediately if the infraction is serious enough.
